I bought a laptop last night. My old one was on the verge of crapping out (I kept getting "your hard drive is about to die, just FYI) messages and it wouldn't boot. We probably would have waited until it for real died in a few weeks to replace it then, but we were like, "hmm, tax-free is good" and went for it.
Ours (NC) was this weekend evidently. I went shopping for a dress for my shower and it was PACKED. I would have rather paid tax and not dealt with the crowds.

Our was this past weekend. I wanted to get some new work clothes (I go back this week) but the sales weren't good at all so I ended up with just one skirt. When they first started having the tax-free weekend, I remember getting really good deals, but the last couple of years have been disappointing.
Ours is this coming weekend (just the weekend). We've done well with it buying furniture the past 3 years. The stores we've worked with have let us write up the orders ahead of time and then they process it that weekend. There is no way I'd want to be in a store buying that weekend, I've heard it is crazy nuts and saving 6.25% is only worth it to me on large purchases (furniture, electronics, not school supplies). No tax on clothing here already, so that is nice.
Ours was this past weekend, only on clothing and some school supplies. I aim to avoid all related shopping establishments during tax free weekend, I would 100x rather pay tax than deal with crowds.
We had one last weekend, but from my understanding it is limited to clothing, shoes, backpacks, and maybe some other school supply type stuff. Definitely not "everything".
I have actually been out of town or had something going on each year that I've lived here on that weekend, so I have yet to take advantage of it. I was around this past weekend, but I don't need anything so I stayed out of the stores purposely. I'm sure I could have found many things to buy tax free, but this isn't a good month for me to buy stuff I don't need.
Louisiana had one this weekend. Since only the 4% state tax is removed, it doesn't feel like much of a discount. We still have to pay the parish tax (around 5% in most parishes in my area).
We don't in Nebraska, but I live relatively close to IA, and theirs was last weekend. I didn't go, however. The savings would have only been $7.50 on every $100, and I would have wasted that much in gas driving there and back. Plus, crowds make me twitchy.
KS doesn't participate and I didn't really need anything enough to drive over to MO. I did go to TJs yesterday and it's in the same shopping center as a Target, an on the MO side, so it was a bit crazy
Iowa's was last weekend. I didn't participate because I didn't need enough to fight the crowds. I'm taking niece shopping this weekend and had considered doing it last weekend, but was glad it wasn't going to work as I hate crowds. Here's more about Iowa's plan: www.iowa.gov/tax/educate/holiday1.html Mostly it's clothes under $100 that qualify.
We don't have it in Nebraska, but we drove across the river to Iowa, so my husband could by himself some shoes. I believe Iowa's tax free weekend only covers clothing and school supplies, but I could be wrong. I am originally from Missouri and I think computers are covered, as well as clothing and school supplies.
