I just saw my gi doc. The bloodwork shows that I am still having an autoimmune reaction, even though I'm gluten free and have been strict gluten free for over a year. Not good. He thinks it's refractory celiacs disease, which basically means that my body hates me. I'm not absorbing nutrients like I should. He says it could be cancer (lymphoma specifically) causing the continuing reaction so I have to do a capsule endoscopy (and a full colonoscopy prep. Oh joy.). Refractory celiacs disease dramatically increases the risk of lymphoma/ other cancer so this isn't a wild guess. I'm trying not to google but 5-yr survival rates from T cell lymphoma is lower than 10%. JFC guys, I'm so scared.
That is scary, I'm sorry. I am surprised he tossed 'it could be cancer' out at you, but I guess they have to, when speculating?
I hope you find answers, soon.
thank you. Because of the high co-morbidity between rcd and this specific cancer, I'm not surprised he talked about it. I'm going to have to be monitored quite closely because the chances of developing cancer are high. Blerg.
As soon as my insurance approves it, so hopefully soon.
I've been thinking about you. Any updates?
Not as of yet. I called the office yesterday and she said they were calling about it tht afternoon. If it gets approved, I should be able to do it next week sometime. In the meantime, I'm exhausted and nauseated and ready to get the results.
