Oh man, h and I are struggling with this. I call his taste "Lord of the Rings" and I prefer normal, traditional names. Like, I've loved Theo for awhile and then he suggests Theon instead. With an N. WTF man! My grandma named me, so I'm thinking that if H and I really are struggling with it we'll let our parents pick. We're set with girl's names, but heaven help us if this baby is a boy!

My biggest concern was that the names of all the children sounded good together. That being said, I've totally got a British King thing going on now...
I also have a British royalty thing going. It was unintentional with the girls, but if we do have a third I will probably make it intentional.
It's situations like this where I daydream about having Jedi powers for literally just a second. I *know* that DH dislikes my #1 girl name (Jean) strictly because I want it. I wish for just one second I could wave my hand and say "you like the name Jean" and be DONE.
Jedi powers would not solve your H being a dick, if in fact this is true. If it's not true and you think that of your DH, Jedi powers would not solve that, either.
Sorry to be a Debbie Downer, but I just had to point out how bad that sounds to an outside party.
It's pretty annoying. I ask him "what's wrong with Jean? It's everything we want. Short, everyone knows how to spell it, everyone knows how to pronounce it, it's just not in common usage." He says "I dunno, I just don't like it." Yeah I know dude, you don't like it strictly because I DO.

I don't like Jean. Sorry. Maybe he doesn't like it. It seems plain. Although it is a unique name nowadays.

Names are hard! Sometimes you just dislike them for no good reason

Exactly. If we have 3, the boy and girl names have already been picked simply based on the first 2 and what goes with them...
