It's for my maternity leave sub. She and I worked together at the start of the year and she is still here until the end of midterms next week.
I really loved working with her (In fact, I wish they would let her stay and replace the other teacher I work with who never contributes anything and just takes my work.....)
She is pregnant herself and is due about two weeks after her contract ends next week. We've become very friendly and she supported me through my rough time with PPA when I had my DD. I consider her a new friend as we've hung out often outside of work.
So I want to get her something to say "thank you" but to be more personal than some standard thank you gift you might get a sub you never formed a relationship with.
What would you go with? I was thinking something for her and her baby.
Given all your recent gift dramas, whatever you do, give her a gift receipt.
I'd get her something from her registry or a gift card, and then something small that has made your life with DD easier/more pleasant and want her to have too. For me these are things like Sophie the Giraffee, zippered sleepers, those "monthly" numbered stickers, etc.
OH! and she had decided to cloth diaper this kid so I was thinking one of those diaper sprayers that hooks to your toilet, which has been a life saver for me...but not sure if that would be strange as a "thank you" gift.
Maybe a few cute wetbags or some other CD supplies?

I don't think that's weird if you've talked about CDing. There are a few things I've gotten from people who had kids recently and really liked them and wanted to pass them on/share the love. They're always appreciated.
I don't know how much you want to spend, but you could do the diaper sprayer and a couple of other supplies with the rest of your budget, like a wet bag or CD safe diaper cream. (I do not CD, so I'm not really sure what else there is to buy!)
If you know the baby's name, I've given personalized hats before. They are really cute. Can't be used for very long but they are only about $10 and so cute in pictures.
I would get something small and personal for baby since she likely has all of the basics. For her I would get a pedicure gift card so she can relax and pamper herself a little before baby 2 comes.
