Ugh, sorry. Grays are so weird! When we moved into our house we had some gray paint left from the rental we were in that we brought with us and used it to paint the hall bathroom....it definitely came out a lavender shade. It was fine since I had purple in there but it was so strange how it could look so different from one place to another.
Yep, grays are so hard for this very reason. It depends on the underlying colors in the paint and the lighting in the space. I'm hoping to paint with gray, and I want it very neutral. I know I'll have to buy 5 different samples and throw them all up on the wall before choosing one.
When I was picking out paint I got so many samples. I had never bought samples before, just picked by the cards. Everyone made fun of me for how many samples I got, but I really love every color we ended up using. Completely worth it.

Boo, that sucks. We had this happen when we painted our bedroom at our old apartment. We thought it was more of a blue/grey and it turned out like a periwinkle color! We ended up just leaving it but if it was in a more permanent residence, we probably would have had to redo it!

We had that problem with greys too but did find a really good one... I'm forgetting the name of it though. It helps to search the paint color name on Pinterest to see what it looks like in a room. We also had a problem with the little samples not matching the true color of the swatch - if there's a drop or 2 extra of one color in it, it makes a big difference in such a little can.

What colors are you doing? We love SW lol. We bought a piece of drywall from Home Depot and painted samples on it and held it up in different lights....including outdoors!
We did mindful gray in our bathroom and dovetail in our bedrooms. Dovetail is darker and mindful really light. Also did a light purple in the bathroom that the name is not coming to me. I can find out though! Grays are HARD. Either look green or purple or brown!
