Hi! I lurked back at the Board-That-Must-Not-Be-Named and a bit on here, though it seems quieter. I really, really don't want to go to TB so hoping this picks up a little. I post sporadically on ML when I can get some slow days at work, ProBoards is much more work-comp friendly than the TN ever was.
So... me. H and I have been married for 2 1/2 yrs and we always agreed we'd TTC around this time. Feels so good to say that, finally! ;D I have a weirdo system - Dx with PCOS by my last GYN in my early-mid 20s (I'm 33 now) but my current GYN didn't see much evidence to support that when I started going to her about 2 yrs ago. So who knows?
I went off BCP in March of this year (after being on it for nearly 10 yrs), but AF only just showed up in early July. I started temping last week so we'll see what happens. I'm all signed up on FF, but I haven't read TYCOF yet, it's on hold at the library. I'm not doing PNV, but am taking daily cod liver oil (see below).
H and I do Primal/Paleo (no grains, no beans, no nuts, no seeds, no processed foods of any kind, no artificial sugar, limited 'real' sugar) and while it was difficult at first, it's second nature now. And it's started me on this whole notion of "no chemicals" in food (we only eat fresh, food we prepare ourselves/by our families, or go to actual restuarants, no fast food) and therefore, no chemicals in anything else. To that end, I'm really loving the idea of midwives and birthing centers vs. OBs and hospitals.
I never pictured myself as granola, but guess I am now! But you can't get me anywhere near actual nature, though. I am a city girl and I like my parks right where I can see 'em (surrounded by buldings)and pavement for me to walk on - heels + nature do not mix.
So I'm excited to start TTC, but also trying not to put too much pressure on myself/on H. We'll see what happens!
Hi Viva! I have about 5 pills left in my BC pack and then I'm going off. I have been on the pill for 13 years (yikes!) and am excited/anxious to see how my body/mood will change. I *think* we will start TTC in about 6 months or so.
I read TCOYF a few months ago and it was REALLY informative.
“Life is not orderly. No matter how we try to make it so, right in the middle of it lose a leg, fall in love, drop a jar of applesauce.” - Natalie Goldberg
I just went ahead and bought it for Kindle. I'm in for $10, why not. My sister sent me a giant box of baby stuff incl. WTEWYE but I kinda don't want to read it until I'm KU. Also, don't really want to whip it out on the subway to work, LOL. Yay, Kindle discreetness.
Viva, did you find TCOYF for the kindle? I found a title of the same name, but it's not the same book (different authors). Wish I'd realized that before I spent $10 on it....

I have an entire box of pg books from a friend too! What to Expect, Girlfriend's Guide to Pg, Belly Laughs... I feel too presumptuous to start reading them yet.

Sonofabitch, you're right. Man, that's not cool! I've returned it, they will refund me, thank goodness. So much for discreet, might have to buy the real book now. ALTHOUGH - could we maybe do a GP Lending Library?? I might start a new post about it...

I read about half of the other one...it had SOME good information, but most of it seemed like filler to me.
I read TCOYF awhile ago (lots of good info, need to reread it) but just got What to Expect Before You're Expecting (it is great). Both books talk about taking several months to up your nutrients before you even start trying and that makes so much sense to me.
Nourishing Traditions is good too.
I am glad you are enjoying WTEBYE!
Also, I wasn't going to read any pregnancy books before I got KU, but then my DH was like "don't you want to know what to expect", so I have already read the majority of WTEWYE. I enjoyed reading it in advance and thought it was helpful.
I've only read TCOYF and while the first few chapters were really interesting to me (how does that mucus really work, what are the differences and how to temp) a lot of the rest seemed kind of filler-ish to me too. Very repetitive and a lot of info I learned in my biology classes in 8th grade or so. But those first few chapters are worth the buy, for sure! (just wish books weren't so ridiculously expensive in NL - and I didn't want to send it to my parents for my dad to bring over, as we haven't told anyone IRL that we're TTC.)
