I can't believe how people blow stuff out of proportion. On my newsfeed there was an article on In Touch Weekly about some 19 year old daughter of one of those "real housewives". There's 2 pics of her in a bathing suit and one of her with a red solo cup of unknown contents and aparently that makes for risqué instagram moments. I'm not so sure what's risqué about a 19 year old in a bathing suit. No wonder we have such a difficult time combating Sexual Assault/Harrassment when the slut shaming is so strong and absurd. Literally one woman called the poor girl a skank. Had Instagram existed when I was in college my pics wouldn't have been that different and sure as hell not a skank. Just people...ugh.

It just saddens me that people continue to buy those publications thus keeping them in business and promoting all everything that those magazines stand for.
Per my high school senior, they are not allowed to wear leggings anymore. Because it may entice the boys at school. THOSE were the words that were said to them. THOSE WORDS. How about just telling them that if they get raped, it was their fault for wearing leggings.
She plays Tennis, and can't wear her shorts or tank top inside to go to the freaking bathroom. SERIOUSLY. It is a uniform. But the boys can walk around shirtless. I am beyond pissed.

I would be at the Principal's office or the school board voicing my anger. That's not okay.
DH asks if cheerleaders are allowed to wear their uniforms?

That's insane. Doesn't the school provide the uniform? Why is that the uniform if it's against their idiotic rules?

Yes, the cheerleaders can if it is a pep rally day. My kid is a great student. Honor Roll, no discipline issues, I mean, she really is a loving sweet girl. She is 6 ft tall, with legs for days, and blonde. The uniform is a snug racerback tank, and a skirt with shorts attached/and or shorts. I just feel like it is not fair. They actually have to leave around noon for their matches, so sometimes it is a time crunch to get on the bus quickly. I did send an email voicing my concerns, and the fact that after school, everyone dresses for athletic purposes. It is 115 here once it gets to summer...ugh. She just runs in and out, and hopes not to get caught. Her coach has reminded the principal that it is the required uniform, but there are a few teachers that get pissy about it.

We have to buy them, Tennis gets no love from the funds. LOL! It is legal on court, but they can't wear it to school. So, after school when they have to come in or out, some teachers get mad. She just goes anyway, she said that she is fast. It just makes no sense.

Once a very long time ago I got a ticket on base. I had to go to a driving class. I was 20/21. We got a dress code. Civilians- CASUAL NO FLIP FLOPS. It was the middle of summer inland CA. I wore shorts and a short sleeved shirt. It was 96 degrees. I got called into the SNCOIC's office during the break and told that "[his] Marines were getting distracted by [my] attire. I told him my attire was in accordance with the dress code when he threatened to kick me out of class. He got pissed and told me I shouldn't dress like that in front of a bunch of Marines. I told him that I expect Marines to have some self discipline (I was fearless back then). I got to stay but the dress code was changed.
See, that is ridiculous. The fact that in this day and age...this is still happening...is beyond my understanding. She is careful with her dress code, but once it gets hot, she can't even wear shorts. They have to be to the knees, which is IMPOSSIBLE to find for a teenage girl. It just screams "guys can't control themselves" to me....and that is a load of crap. I get not wearing super short shorts, or spaghetti straps...backless shirts...but sometimes I think they pick on some kids...but not others. The dance team can wear very adult things...stilettos, short dresses, and such...but they never get sent home. Even jeans with holes are not allowed, due to it being a distraction to the guys. REALLY? Ugh.
Also, to me it is doing a great disservice to the guys/men at the school. I mean, basically they are saying that you have no self control. My daughter is an athlete, and a girl. It is okay for her to dress the part. For comfort, heat, and playing purposes.

That just sounds like a cute athletic outfit to me. And I bet she looks really nice in it. What do they seriously expect to happen to these guys that they are going so far to "protect" when they turn 18 and enter into the real world and there's nobody to shield them from attractive female bodies anymore? This is why I don't think it's appropriate to try and restrict too many things for teenagers. Be there as a guide but know that your time to teach them is short and once they're 18 it's all on them. That level of over-protection is bad for everyone.
