Aside from just enjoying being married/together for a while and aside from saving $$, do any of you have stuff that you're checking off your list?
H and I are taking a month-long road trip in Oct/Nov. That's our big giant To-Do and we're SO DAMN EXCITED about it! We're going around the perimeter of the country, so to speak (down east coast, along the south border, up the west coast, back along the north border). If I'm not PG before we go, then my instance that we sex it up in every state might just take care of that, LOL!
It sounds ridic, but mine has to do with furnishings for our house. I just wanted to have a few key things purchased for our home that we can enjoy before we ever get pregnant.
I just wanted to have for example, outdoor furniture in the backyard, so I can sit on a sunny morning and drink my coffee in peace and quiet and enjoy nature...something that won't necessarily happen at least initially when we have a baby.
But besides that, we travel quite frequently as it is (going to Oregon tomorrow!) and though we won't be doing serious trips the first year of having a kid, we will continue to travel anywhere and everywhere when they are a little older.
Nice dinners out, spontaneous shopping trips, etc., these will be modified and less frequent I know, but I don't mind
We've been checking things off our list for the past 18 months in an effort to feel ready to TTC:
South America- Peru- hiked Inca Trail to Machu Picchu Europe- London and Paris Bought a new (used) family car (Rav4- love it!) Added on a third bedroom to our townhome We are currently in the process of getting Scuba certified Get my Bachelors degree (I graduate in Dec)
We start TTC in January on our trip to Puerto Rico where we'll scuba dive in the Caribbean for the first time.
We'll have been married for 7 years this December and I feel like we've planned the crap out of TTC. I just am hoping it happens quickly
At least with our trips around the US we can take kids with us as most of the places are National parks (and we want to instill a love of camping in them and take them to NTL landmarks).
This will be us to some extent as well. We really enjoy camping/backpacking, and there's plenty of our own country we haven't experienced yet. We want to do the classic rent an RV and drag our kids around in it thing.
That being said, we'll try to hit the foreign spots too at some point, because it's important to me to my kids see other cultures too.

Not ridic at all! I can definitely appreciate furniture. We have a teeny tiny apt right now and will hopefully be moving into a townhouse in the next couple of years, and my Pinterest board for DreamHouse keeps growing
We travel a lot, too, since we started dating and in our 'newlywed' stage, but haven't taken a trip since last summer - saving days and money for our big road trip. We know we'll need to cut back, but I don't mind one bit either!

That's a great list, wow!! Good on ya :Y:
My parents got married younger (early 20s) and they always told the greatest stories about jumping in the car with their friends and going off on adventures while they were kid-free. I always knew I wanted that, even if it meant hitting the snooze button on the biological clock.
I think we've ticked off most of the big things already...partly because we've been waiting SO LONG!!!
We travel a lot already -- obviously there are lots of places we still want to go, but I don't think any of them are places we COULDN'T go with kids. Neither of us are quite where we want to be professionally, but honestly I don't think the time is going to get any better.
Our main thing was sell our condo (we bought our house before we even put the condo on the market), since it's been on the market for 2 years now (yep, it truly is in a slump in NL too! and 7 more condos in our giant building are on the market :-( no chance of it selling quick unless we slash the asking price) that idea went out the window.
We were older when we got together. Already traveled on our own and keep doing so together and will keep doing that with a baby (just at a different pace, probably).
We really don't have bucket list items. Maybe the photo safari in Africa that DH would love to do at some point. But that would actually be fun for a kid as well (maybe not a toddler, but an older kid might LOVe that).
