My weekend was interesting. Friday DH and my sister's boyfriend flew down to FL and rented a car to drive back here to adopt a 7 year old American Bulldog named Grizzley. I went to bed early Friday night and got about 9 hours of glorious sleep while they drove thru the night up here.
Saturday morning I got up went to the gym and got some stuff for Grizzley (food, bowls, etc). Then drove my dog down to my dad's house to meet Grizzley, I left him there and picked up the 3 boys at Logan and drove back home. Dogs met and did well at my dad's house. Sunday night we went out to celebrate my sister passing her OT board exam/new job and our adoption/successful road trip with the dog.
Sunday morning I went running with mine and another running club for 8 miles. It was amazing. Sunday during the day we pretty much played outside with the dogs in the snow and tried to deal with the disaster that our house was becoming and make some food for the week. Sunday night my in-laws came over for a belated birthday dinner for me.
Here's a picture of Grizzley. He loves the snow despite not seeing it before this weekend but can't handle stairs at all, he's so confused by them. So to get him out in the back yard we have to take him out front and around the back and then back again to bring him upstairs. The two are doing very well together actually. Chase is a bit protective of us but is getting better.
Oh, I didn't know you were adopting another dog, bostonmichelle. He's adorable! And wow to going all the way to FL to get him. Was there an attachment to this particular dog for some reason?
Long story short it was a family friend's who couldn't take care of it anymore. And we didn't tell anyone until after since it was such an involved process to get him here. We weren't on the radar really to get one but the opportunity presented itself so we took it.
I spent Saturday morning working on my capstone for my master's until I had a call with my professor to go over what I'd worked on. Saturday night we did pizza and roller skating with some folks from the gym. That was really fun.
Sunday I was at a swim meet at UNH all day.
Needless to say, I'm looking forward to the potential snow day(s).

Had fun playing in the snow with the fan on Saturday and a lovely brunch/lunch with vtdiamond and @awinter yesterday. Not quite sure I'm ready for this week with the snow days, but I'm trying to be positive!
Mostly quiet weekend. Saturday we stayed in and got a lot of stuff done around the house. We're making progress in getting the office cleared out to become the nursery! We're purging a TON of stuff, which is good but a major PITA.
Sat night I had an argument with my H which kind of put me in a funk for the rest of the weekend. It sucked a bit, but I think we're ok. Sucks though that I ended up depressed for most of Sunday, so didn't get much done.
I'm not looking forward to this week. We're all set for the storm, got food, water, candles, etc ready to go. I'm so sure we're goign to lose power which SUCKS. If not, it won't be bad but we probalby will. We also cleaned up the basement and tested the gas fireplace (which luckily works when the power is out!), so we're as set as we can be. It just sucks because my job blows and I'm on call (for the first time, with no real training) on Wed. I was suppsoed to shadow some people tomorrow to get ready for it, but that won't be happening. So I'm just hoping I can get in to the office on Wed and everyone else comes in so I have some help.

We did family swim Friday night, which the kids loved. Saturday we had both sets of best friends over and got Thai and just hung out, it was great. On Sunday we had swim lessons then we did the unthinkable and went grocery shopping. And we tried market basket at first then gave up. But we forgot one item so I ended up at sketchy basket after all and it was horrific. But I managed not to be killed or lose a limb so it's all good.
noodleoo, why are you so sure you'll lose power? It sucks that you have to go in on Wednesday--stay safe!
Don't forget to charge up your devices, everyone, so you have something to do if the power does go out!
Our town power grid is pretty old and we lose power with almost every major storm. It usually comes back pretty quick, the worst time it was out for 24 hours (which SUCKED). My friend lives on the other side of town and they *always* lose it. Right after she moved, we had 3 bad storms in 1 year and all 3 times she lost it for almost a week! She bought a huge generator the next year.
It is so wierd, I grew up just 2 towns over and I never remember losing power for more than a few hours at a time. I don't know if the storms are getting worse or if the power lines are just older and not maintained well. It is getting crazy. I don't care too much about the snow, we can deal with that. But it is the long term power outages that scare me. At least we have gas, so we can use our fireplace and cook on the stove.
DH had been training for an event that was supposed to be a Saturday day trip. But with the weather he ended up leaving Friday night after DD's bedtime and getting home around 11 on Sunday. So I got to shovel and hang with DD alone all weekend. I was so proud of myself for getting the driveway cleared enough for DH's truck, but all he could do was bitch about how sore and tired he was. Join the club buddy.
And he's now decided our anniversary trip should just be a New England road trip instead of a week in Ireland. Apparently he's now afraid one of my parents is going to have a medical emergency while we're gone, and he wants to be able to drive home. I wanted to strangle him by last night.
On the plus side, DD got to build a snowman with Mommy, and we got to cook together. DH took her to a camp open house on Sunday, and I took her to tumbling class.
I have to be careful about saying he "owes me", as it's a hot button topic in his family. Many offers of help have come with strings attached. But yeah, he needs to suck up and deal.
