When I send DS to preK in a couple of weeks I hope he is not traumatized by the banana, yogurt and the very sandwichy looking sandwich that will inevitably await him. I am not creative at all. I wouldn't even know how to go about doing something like this if he asked.

I dont' really think it takes that long. You just cut your sandwiches with a cookie cutter or whatever. Which takes all of 30 extra seconds? I dont' know, I want to do it when DS gets a little older.

cute until DS flings his lunchbox all over and tosses it onto the shelf upside down.... then just a regular mess. I'm in the "no way I have time for that" camp.

Those sandwiches have accessories!!! There are eyes and mouths and the dinosaur has spikes. That is not 30 seconds. This is kind of like when Rachel Ray says all her meals are 30 minutes or less.
I saw one for snacks, I tried to post a photo for Madringal, but I'm a PIP idiot, I suppose. It was a wooden clothespin, and the bags of snacks were on either side. So cute!
I have that pinned! I think I even posted my interpertation of the bottom right hand one before. I promise that I never spend more then 15 minutes making her lunch and she really loves it. But I will confess that this is just my way of doing something to make up for the fact that I am typically away from the house for about 11-12 hours a day. It just makes me feel better because I know how much she looks forward to her cute lunch. Sometime she will sit with me on Pinterest and look for ideas of stuff she wants me to try. Most of the times mine don't come out nearly as cute, but she doesn't notice or care.
Here he is. Nothing fancy required. I cut the circle using a cup (I don't know why it looks warped) the eyes are cheese, blueberry nose, and the mouth is just a fruit bar I cut using a knife. I did use a food marker to draw on the eyes, but it would be adorable without it. DD thought he was hilarious even if he isn't as cute as the inspiration pic.

If it makes you feel any better, I used cookie cutters to make DS1's sandwich "cute" a few times, and he asked me to stop because he wanted his lunch to look like everyone else's. I am not sure creative lunches are cool with school-age boys.

Haha - I have two nephews that I am sure would think it is super uncool. And I am sure I have a very limited window in which my 4 year old thinks it is cool. I am just hoping that window is open long enough for her little sister to start needing a lunch!
