i thought i had decided on the chicco, but went to the store to test it out to be sure and a few employees told me (and 3 other couples there at the time) how much they really like the graco click connect, in combo with the snug ride click connect 40. any experience or preference for either? i like that the snugride can be used from infant up to 2 years, but for that price the chicco system is cheaper and im guessing the higher quality. i just really liked the versatility of the graco and that i could skip a convertible carseat later on. i'm having trouble deciding.
When looking at bucket seats, remember that most babies grow out of their seats by height before they grow out of it by weight. A bucket seat probably won't last you the entire 2 years. A convertible actually will last you from birth to 2 years and beyond. Case in point: my nephew is 5 years old, and 37 pounds. He grew out of the bucket seat at one year by height, and out of the convertible last year. He's in a harnessed booster now.
Another thing to think about: the bucket seat is convenient for carrying a sleeping baby, but it will get too heavy to carry by the time baby is about 6-7 months old.
The MMMoms board has lots of advice on picking carseats.
Personally, I'm going with the Chicco for safety features, ease of install (I've installed a lot of bases and these are my favorites) and for being lightweight. I plan to get the chicco keyfit caddy stroller base, and an inexpensive stroller later when I'm no longer using the bucket seat.

We got the Graco snug ride 30 or something like that with the click connect. Super easy to get in and out of the car and stroller. Plus it was cheaper.. just can't afford some of those more expensive ones!
We ended up with the Graco SnugRide 35 Classic Connect, which we didn't find difficult to install at all (once we found the damn LATCh attachments!!!). The reason we got this one is that it has an unbased install option which utilizes the shoulder belt around the back, which is a bit safer if you're ever using it without the base. We have 4-5 trips for the kid planned under age 1, so it made sense.
I wanted everything in my travel system to be the same brand, so we went with the Bravo Trio because the Chicco infant seats had much better reviews, and that was the most important component IMO.
I also wanted the infant seat so I don't have to take her out of the carseat to take into daycare etc. if she is sleeping and also without the carseat itself being really heavy, which I imagine a seat designed to be used up to 2years would be.
We're planning on getting the Bravo Trio for this reason. I liked the City Mini and was willing to get the adapter for the infant seat, but H didn't like it. We both really liked the Bravo when we "test drove" it around the store. This is one of the things on my registry I'm most excited for, actually.
We got a graco snug ride 35 bc a friend handed it down to us. But we liked it,so we bought a second one to have one in each vehicle bc of daycare drop offs and not being able to leave the car seat there. We used it until about 13 months. Loved how easy it was to get in and out of the car. We just got the graco adapters for our uppa baby and bob strollers.

I have this for car seats and love it. I have a Graco double stroller that I snap them into.
