OMG, mine was awesome, even though we didn't do much. Just ... everything seemed to be working out as it should. Got tons of laundry done, tried a different spray paint on my to-be-a-chalkboard project (and only needed two coats, suck it crappy rustoleum universal pearl mist paint), got the dog's nails trimmed, etc etc etc.
I've also had a wonderful weekend! My husband bought a $25 dollar stand up freezer and it is working like a charm . I bought a $50 nearly perfect condition china hutch off of craigslist and I am over the moon about it. It is so pretty. I hope this great luck keeps going. Also everyone is freaking out about a potential snow storm coming our way but I think we are too far south to get the worst of it. I hope it doesn't effect anyone on here too bad if they are in the projected area.

I'm so jealous of some of the CL finds. I swear people in the DC area charge insane prices for their stuff.
As for my weekend, it was good. Met some of the MMM at the GTG on Saturday. Also took back the PBK duvet I bought for J's room (yay for actually returning something!).

It was pretty good - we went to Kansas City for a visit and I talked H into lunch at a restaurant he hates and a walk through Ikea where we ONLY spent $60 lol. He didn't seem to mind once we were inside the store and he said his lunch was better than he expected it to be. Our deal was I went to those two places and he could go to Vintage Stock and look around and we went to THREE and he came out empty handed. And we hit up 2 Goodwill stores, where I did not walk out empty handed lol. Yesterday, I tried to get cleaning done and seemed to hit a wall. I did get to see a friend who brought me a standing mirror sans mirror for me to redo with chicken wire for the baby's room (bow storage!) and also two HUGE boxes of baby clothes.

Well, I knew it was going to be not good when we went into it because it was the anniversary of my BILs death. To make things worse DH & DD1 had stomach flu. They did rally for Sesame Street live (MIL bought us tickets without thinking what day it was). The girls loved it and it was a good distraction. Sunday DD1 and I went to a school open house. We will likely send her there. She was tired and a little bit bratty, but I at least feel good about finding a school for her.

Search for Eastern Shore CL or Annapolis.. if you don't mind travelling. I got mine from Cambridge. I felt like I was stealing it from the young couple lol.
It was pretty good. DH's flight got in really late Friday night so he slept in and was slow to get dressed and out of the house, but the lazy weekend morning and big breakfast he made was nice.
We ran errands (SW, HD, Loves, Michael's and the market), and finally decided on a stain and color for the fence. We only bought a gallon to try on the little yard off of the back corner or the house so that we could be sure before we commit for the courtyard and front fence.
Sunday we stained the fence. It was time consuming but fun. DH loves the repetitive calm jobs like painting and staining,(he does the detail work), and I like that you can actually see your progress and the visual impact while you are working on it. I also like that you can talk while you work without it being a dangerous distraction. We always wind up having interesting conversations when we do that kind of diy.
The guy at SW gave us the wrong type of stain, which we didn't realize until too late, but it may have actually turned out to be a good thing....the jury is still out. We will have to finish that section with the same product, (which we like so far and they assure me will hold up better than my first choice), but I am still annoyed and refuse to make a decision on the rest without staring at it some more.;p
We got rid of our bonded leather couch set from 2003 and got a 2 pc used leather sectional for $700. I love it. It totally opens up the room and before all 3 pieces were just crowding the room since they were so bulky.

It was fantastic. My BFF is moving back to the neighborhood! She flew in from Florida and we went and scoped out a lot together, then walked through a couple homes and she chose which model to build. I got to help pick out all the finishes. It was fun. It means a lot that she asked for my input, and I can not wait for her to move back in a few months. I'll be able to see her backyard from mine and our kids will pick up their friendships right where they left off.

We had a productive weekend. I've been wanting to board and baton the wall under our island in the kitchen. We got that retextured, all trimmed out and primed. I just need to throw on some paint and caulk some of the bigger seams. I'm pretty happy with how it came out.
I also painted a chalk board wall for our playroom. I've been wanting a black wall for a while. I figure a chalkboard wall ticked something off both mine and my kids lists. I'm secretly hoping they never write on it, though.
nursecramer We are using Deckscapes in semi transparent. I thought that I wanted the oil based, but we wound up with the waterborne formula. I prefer the look of oil finishes, but they tell me that the waterborne has better UV protection/color protection and has good waterproofing capabilities if you do two coats, and that it will not need to be recoated as frequently as the oil based.
It said that the waterborne version was only for horizontal surfaces, but the guy double checked with the technical people who said that it wouldn't be a problem and the store people said that they have sales reps and many customers (a lot of pros) who prefer the deckscapes to the woodscapes, and they use it on siding and fences.
The color we are using is Charwood. It isn't quite as dark as I was hoping, but it looks really nice so far, with just one coat. It's one of those things that isn't what I had envisioned, but in the end it will probably turn out better.
Here it is.. no dishes yet. They are in the garage still from the move in August. $50 and it only has slight damage to the feet. I am planning on painting it. Not sure what color yet. It is perfect for this space. There is another doorway to the left of it. The Board and batten isn't finished either I am going to do another horizontal board below and the vertical battens.
March birthday, so she is pretty firming in. She ready too (academically & socially).
Do you think he's ready socially? Do you think he'd benefit from another "free" year?
I think right now, he's ready socially. I would worry if he was going to continue to be the youngest, how it might affect him as a teen. H was a bit of a late bloomer and spent most of high school being one of the smaller kids in his class. (He was also an early K admission.) But after next year, M won't be the youngest anymore, so I don't think it will matter.
My daughter missed the cut off for kindergarten by a week. She is very bright and great socially, so I was all set to have her tested for gifted and talented (the only way into early admittance here) so she could go a year early. But the more people I taked to with older kids, the more I was sure having her go in as an older child was the right move. She is approperatly challanged, but that extra year made things just a bit easier for her to grasp She is in kindergarten now, and i help in the class a bit. Those younger kids have a bit of a harder time. The BTDT parents I've talked to have also mentioned how much of an advantage it is from a parenting standpoint to have the older kid in their grade. My daughter will be driving first. I'll have a degree of control over her car and drivers license, but not over her friends. So I want my kid to be the one behind the wheel.
I was surprised to find my daughter is not the oldest in class. Not even close. Our cut off date here is 5 by October 1. But half our class has summer birthdays and are older. So her class moves fast. It's not the easy kindergarten I remember. They do a lot of math, and a lot of reading and writing. Kindergarten is th new 1st grade. And being older gives them just that little edge on comprehension.
The dog had a close call with a cat in the back yard. I'm sure he was a little shocked by it, but to be fair he's 12 and the "attack" happened under the porch, so there probably wasn't much he could do. He got his eyes scratched and I was so worried all weekend that we'd be at the vet with major issues. He kept them closed all weekend and they look totally back to normal now. Whew!
Then this morning it was snowy and he ran out into the yard to play in the snow (his favorite) and came in limping. I swear that dog is on a real roll.
Besides all that worry it was a productive weekend and I did a ton of cleaning and organizing and felt all accomplished to start the week.
Cleaning out our attic, and we finished putting in floor boards throut the space - so now I have another 300 sf of space for storage! Oh - and we found a bat, and my husband put him outside but he was freezing cold. So now we have him in a clear bin with water on our front porch lol. He is sleeping away hybernating. I am anxious to get him back outside lol!
