I feel like my boys (14 months) are kind of delayed with their language. They basically just had their first word (ba for ball - I'm not counting mamama or dadada blubbering). They're not in a daycare center or with kids other than themselves during the week, so don't get a ton of kid interaction.
Were your twins delayed with language? Or develop their own "twin language"?
Mine are about a month younger than yours, but they aren't saying words yet either. Sometimes I think they are trying to tell me something, but it's just babbling. Anyway, mine were pretty premature so I'm not too worried yet, but I'll be following this thread to see!

Yes, they were, but they caught up by 2. We had them evaluated basically every 6m to 1yr to keep an eye on it, and they did register as behind but not officially delayed.
They still speak in twin-speak sometimes. But they mostly use their real words for other people (unless they're REALLY excited lol). It doesn't bother me as long as they continue to progress in English instead of MarcGabeEse lol.
Ours were barely saying anything more than Uh oh at that age. They started speech therapy twice a week at 1.5. A year later and we just had out last session on Friday
They have their own language, but they were also delayed. Now, they are on target.

Fry, are you surprised at how their twin language (once they're caught up) actually doesn't interfere that much? I was so worried -- everyone had me psyched up about it. But it's totally just how they have extensive conversations with themselves or tell us elaborate stories, it's not really how they communicate with the world or for their needs or wants.
Mine were speech delayed (1 is still delayed, 1 isn't) but I don't think it's anything to worry about at 14m. Plenty of kids catch up on their own. By 18m, if yours are not caught up it's time to have them evaluated IMO.

Yes, mine were slightly speech delayed at 18 months. At 3, they are perfectly fine with no interventions. Preschool has helped a ton since my husband and I are generally not big talkers.
Mine are 17 months and are adding more and more words recently or at least enough syllables that we can figure out their intent. At 14 months they didn't say much. I think they are slightly behind but we've been told to expect that and our NICU follow up told us they like to still check in with twin premies until about 3 as a result of the likely delay.
