My confession is my snack of choice. I love Gerber apricot baby food. I eat it a few times a week, it's so delicious! My grocery store doesn't carry apricot sauce. Whole Foods does, but I rarely make the trip there. So baby food it is. H thinks it's nasty, but it does have a lot of Vitamin A .
lol, it makes sense! Just like applesauce, except apricots.
My confession is that I really like One Direction. Their music is super fun, good to sing along to (especially in the car), and they're pretty funny in interviews.
We have stretched ourselves super thin by having two houses. We used planned savings, took out an additional loan, racked up credit card debt (which was previously paid off), and cashed out DH's IRA from his old job. On top of that we still received (unplanned) help from family.
I still think we made the right decision in buying the house. It has always felt like what we were suppose to do.
I have never added up the full amount of money we put into this house. I don't want to know.
jjwritergirl I figured it was one of those unspoken things people were curious about.
Luckily before we started we had paid off all debt except mortgage/my car payment. We had been savings money back for this as well.
Oh, which I forgot to add, we also refinanced my car. It was almost paid off and we took out the full loan against it that we could for renovations. Ugh.
Our old house has a very cheap mortgage (just over $300) so although it has sucked, it's been keeping utilities on both houses that makes all the difference. Utilities at both houses can be around the same, if not old house more, just because it is less energy efficient, even though it is half the size.
So basically, we have drained ourselves almost completely, but we see light at the end of the tunnel! The *only* way this has worked is because our old house has such a low mortgage.
In the last 7 months I have applied for 85 jobs and gotten 2 interviews.
I can't get a job. I can only assume that working for TTH has hurt me.
That sounds so discouraging. However, I don't think it's TTH that has hurt you, I think it's that anyone with a doctorate is very hard to hire. All the doctorates I know (only 5, to be fair. lol) had really long job searches. People are intimidated by your qualifications, which is a huge compliment
HoneySpider Sorry What kinds of positions are you applying for?
Everything?
A lot of positions at colleges/universities plus some adjunct positions.
More recently I've also been applying for marketing/comm jobs at all kinds of businesses. Not really what I want to do but my experience meets the criteria.
HoneySpider You know someone with your credentials (applause) could benefit from a head hunter. They get paid by the company if you get hired on anywhere so it's no money out of your pocket.

Have you thought about grant-writing or fundraising for a nonprofit since you have experience through TTH? DC has a zillion associations and some of them may have some very relevant jobs. The web site www.associationforum.org lists a bunch of DC association jobs.

HoneySpider - I think you know where I work (if not, message me). There are a good number of jobs in learning (usually for employees) and communications that are remote. If you see any on the site that interest you, I can get you the hiring managers contact info.
My confessions...it's Monday night and I'm drunk. I havent liked Bourbon St in NOLA, but I'm a fan of many other streets!
I bought "disposable" granny panties for after delivery. They go up past my belly button and are literally the anti-sexy. I have no intentions of getting rid of them. They are so damn comfy. My poor H...
