There's not as much as I expected either. But it's hard to tell. The plows have all been by. The cars on the street are almost covered but the sidewalks and streets are clear.

We've got probably 16-18". There was about a foot above the back door floor this morning and its about 6-8" from the patio up to the door. So we are right on schedule to get above 2 feet of snow. DH went out and made a path for the dogs. He is going to do a clearing of the driveway shortly since the snow blower only works for 24inches and under and it was getting close to the top when he made a path 2 hours ago.
I'm working from home as is H. My mom stayed the night so she has the Kids. H just went out to start shoveling/snow blowing. I'm not getting much work done lol
Eta: I can't tell how much we have because it's just in huge drifts.
I think we're around 20". H went out a couple of hours ago to snow blow and he'll go back out again tonight. The plows have been coming by but only occasionally. The wind has definitely made some of the drifts quite high.
I think we got at least 18" so far, but it is hard to tell with the wind blowing it around. H went out and cleared the driveway. Thank goodness for a snowblower! The snow is light, dry stuff so it wasn't too bad.
So far we still have power (knock on wood!). We overprepared just in case. I think since the snow is dry and not stickking to the trees/power lines, we might be okay. PHEW.
We are both WFH today but I can't do much, I need help and no one has trained me yet. I am "on call" for the first time tomorrow and I still don't konw what to do. My boss kept saying "don't worry about it, we'll help you" last week, but that won't help much if no one goes into the office. I'll probaby try to go in and pray that someone else shows up.
noodleoo your company (or, perhaps more accurately, your group) makes no sense to me. Between this, Halloween costumes, and other stories you've told they sound more like a disorganized startup than the successful company they are.
Tell me about it! I believe that it is specifically my team. The rest of the company does not seem this dysfunctional. But it makes me feel better to hear you say that. I keep thinking that it is my fault or that my expectations are too high. I am really frustrated and I don't know what to do about it. I guess it is good that I'm going out on maternity leave in May, although if I wasn't I'd honestly be looking for a new job right now.
ha! supposedly my town "won" in NH at 30" of accumulation.
I was out around 4pm attempting to clear the driveway (it was not going well!) and my super awesome neighbor came by in his new heavy duty tractor/snowblower combo and cleared my whole driveway in about 10 minutes. I love him. He is my new favorite person.
DS2 has been up since 4:20. That plus 28 some odd inches going to make for a fun second snow day as daycare is closed again. I am of course telework ready so I am expected to put in a full day :/ again...

My husband is a rock star. He wouldn't let me do anything, even take the dog out, so I owe him a ton. We probably ended up with around 2 feet, but the drifts are insane. The walkway between our house and garage is piled with snow taller than me. I don't know how he's going to clean it out, but since the trash cans and dryer vent are buried, he's going to have to ugh. He got up this morning to snowblow the driveway again, because OF COURSE the university is open at the usual time. Our town streets were ok, though I did almost get stuck at the top of a hill, the highway was a breeze, but Cambridge streets are a freaking nightmare. Probably why the city is closed, as well as the other big university here. Grumble grumble.

I'm actually surprised at how well the roads were plowed. I saw black pavement on all the roads I traveled on except the street I live on. We got about 2 feet or so, plus there was 4" on the ground from before. The drifts are unbelievable they are up to the bottom of my window at work.

I'm so sick of job searching...
I think this is really team specific. Hopefully you can move to a new team before or after leave. It really is such a great company to work for when you have a role that works best for your work/life balance. It definitely is a work hard/play hard atmosphere. Do you have any interest in marketing? We have wine fridges and beer carts and dinners out in the North End! And parties! And no one participates in the halloween festivities! Lol.

OMG being "on call" today consists of me literally manually routing documents. Like logging in and manually clicking buttons to route things. I've been doing this NONSTOP since NOON and I still have another 1-2 hours to go. This is probably the stupidest thing i've ever done at work in my life. And I was a coop at a paper company who used to print pictures for 8-10 hrs a day. This is comparable that!!!
I don't know what I'm going to do. I will be "on call" once every 2 weeks plus one weekend a month or something like that. I want to kill myself right now. I literally haven't moved in 8 hours other than to get up to pee.

So after three hours of shoveling, we finally cleared the driveway today. Good thing I had off from work again. I then had a dentist appointment at 2 pm and my city was still a mess at that point. The plowing is sooo bad. I didn't see bare pavement at all and there will no where to park at work until the snow melts. Ugh.
noodleoo wait like the documents that come in though the interfaces?!
Yup, all the ones that don't get routed automatically, which is apparently A LOT. We have someone doing this for about 16 hours a day, every day, including weekends. We take shifts between the staff in the US and India.

Oh gosh, I didn't even think about that. I bet I won't be able to get parking at work tomorrow. They had a shortage already, without having to deal with with the snow.

Ok FUCK THAT. You need a new role. I can't believe they have you doing that! Aren't you WAY overqualified for that?! I don't blame you for being pissed about this.

DH and I have decided we're not using the car until the snow melts rather than deal with digging it out. Our laziness knows no bounds
My mistake was putting the car in the garage. Then we had to shovel the entire driveway.
