I confess that all of my jeans come from the gap :-(
That is, except for one pair of Fidelity that I bought a few months ago. I need to get them hemmed but I am terrified that they will be hemmed at the wrong length. My gap jeans slowly shrink over the years and they always end up shorter than when i start (even with cold wash/hang dry).
I also primarily wear flats, but do have a few heels.
Would you get them hemmed to fit my ballet flats since that's what I wear most often? Or the higher heels?
My gap jeans are normally <$40, and these were $140 so I am scared of wrecking them.
Also, when you go to the alterations place, do you put the jeans on there and have them pin them? Or do you bring them pinned? I have only done my own hemming thus far.
How much needs to be hemmed? Would it be possible to hem them for flats length but not cut off the extra fabric so that they can be let out if they shrink and become high waters?
If they're skinnies, I think that getting them hemmed for flats (at an ankle-type length) will work for both flats and heels. Other fits are trickier, and I usually get them hemmed for one purpose or the other.
I always have them pin them for me, because I wouldn't know how to pick the right length.
They are a straight leg. Here is a pic (but mine are a dark denim wash, not white)
