I was disappointed, sorry to all the fans out there. Loki was the only acceptable thing and I guess too many geekettes and fandoms have pumped him up so much for me that I felt meh about it.
BUT DEAR GOD, WHY DID THEY CAST NATALIE PORTMAN? She had NO NO NO chemistry with Hemsworth, none! Their "romance" we beyond unbelievable and all I could think was, they let her help ruin yet another great series?
I felt meh about Thor at first but it's one of those movies that grew on me the more I watch it. Now I'm hooked on Loki so it's one of my favs. I have to admit I'm disappointed they didn't kill off Portman in Thor 2 though haha.
I agree, I thought Thor 2 was a disappointment as well. I had such high hopes. Right now I actually don't even remember the plot at all...it really didn't leave much of an impression on me. Natalie Portman is really poorly cast in that role. I like Thor when he's with the rest of the Avengers. They play off each other well. Alone...not so much.
Is Natalie Portman just incapable of good chemistry in romantic roles? I mean, I'm not a big fan of hers anyway (my first boyfriend was mean and had pictures of her taped on his wall but not a single photo of me anywhere to be seen, it stung) but I can't think of anything I've seen her in where the romance was remotely believable. I've only liked her in non-emotive roles, like The Professional.

Yeah, I'm not a huge fan of her with Thor. She's just awkward and recites her lines. Takes me out of the experience. But, tidbit, the part where she and Thor kiss? It's his wife IRL. Or maybe that's in the second Thor movie. Either way, Chris' wife makes it in the movie to kiss him.

Not sure why, but I think I liked the second Thor movie better. I think it's because of Loki though. Loved seeing him get passionate and angry about Frigga dying. (Rene Russo did a splendid job this time around, I thought. Wonderful warrior-queen). Totally agree about Natalie Portman - she really flops as a love interest. I think she can do ok in other roles, but not as the love interest. She bombed the exact same way in the Star Wars movies. In the first movie, as Queen Amadala fighting for her people, she was ok. When she became just Padme in episodes II and III, love interest and damsel in distress, I wanted to vomit every time I saw her on screen.
