Hooray, finally! I can't believe you've had to pay for a hotel room all this time; it seems so, so wrong. I hope it was some kind of long-term accommodation place and that you weren't paying regular hotel rates for the last month or so?
You're going to be somewhere in IL, right? Sending you uneventful travel vibes!
It's been lodging on base, so kinda like a hotel room, but the rate is relatively affordable. At least.
I find it mind-boggling, but from experience I've learned that attempting to apply logic to the military just gives me a headache. I'm just glad to finally get out of here.
We have foolishly acquired a few things since arriving at lodging, so now we're having the fun of packing, then weighing, each of our checked bags. We each get 2 up to 50lbs. We _can_ take more, but would have to file for reimbursement of any baggage fees incurred. And I don't want to manhandle more than 2 suitcases each...
It's going to be close! But, I think we'll make it. We might sacrifice things like the shaving cream for DH and the conditioner for me (those should be pretty easy to acquire once we're in the US with a rental car...).
And, packing is pretty much done. There are the last few bits (like the socks still drying) that will have to wait until morning, but otherwise, we're ready to get this show on the road.
I am so not going to sleep well tonight. Too darn excited.

Awesome! I'm headed to your new city on Sunday so if you're up for a dinner out when you get there, let me know. Or maybe based on your hotel stay I should just bring you some home cooked food.
