and if I drank a big big drink.
E's catalytic converter was stolen off his truck last night. We thought it would be around a $500 fix and be good to go. We found out that they basically tore off a huge portion of the exhaust system and its over $3000 to fix. And even then it might not be fixed well enough to pass SMOG. :-( The insurance company is sending out a inspector tomorrow to estimate the damage and we will go from there. I really didn't want to end up with a car payment right now :-(

KC, E talked to the police, insurance and guy at the repair shop and apparently they are stolen very often. They contain precious medals that they are selling out of them to get money. It just sucks. We might end up having to replace the truck because its older and barely worth what the estimated damage is.

Thanks ladies. E and I looked at some trucks online tonight. He is actually being really reasonable on the prices and what he wants so hopefully if we do end up having to replace the truck it won't be a bank breaking as I thought.
And I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they just decide to fix his truck and we just pay the deductible!
What a-holes! Do you have a garage you can park the next truck in?
I think the converters have platinum in them so they're very valuable to thieves. People go around stripping the copper pipes out of vacant homes all the time in our area. I'm constantly getting calls about it working in foreclosure.

Thanks ladies. Right now E will be driving my car and I'll be taking public transit because its closer to my work than it is his. We are hoping to make this work through October if we have to buy a new truck so we can save a little extra for a down payment.

Technically yes. We had just been parking my car in the garage and then using the other side as storage. We are going to have to move things around but that's the plan when we get a new one.
