Are some people still only BFing after six months? At six months I started introducing solids, but she is still primarily subsisting on breast milk. I am just curious if some people don't introduce solids at six months and if so, when will you?
We are doing Baby-led weaning, but BFing is easy for us and I am lazy, so she only gets solids once a day at most. I figure we'll get there when we get there.

We introduced solids at 6 months. We are also doing BLW, but most of the time DS could care less about solids (we have only been doing it 4 weeks). We also aren't that consistent and typically he only gets it once a day. Also that is largely in the evening and most of the time he is tired and just wants the boob. Oh well, he will get it eventually I am sure.
DD is just over 6 months and we're doing BLW. But, she really loves eating with us. She was already sitting with us for mealtimes and now if you don't also give her some food she gets MAD
I BF for a year, but only EBF for 6 months. At 6 months I introduced cereal with BM, and then once they got the hang of eating I began to introduce other foods.
We started BLW at 6 months, and it has seriously taken another 6 months for him to get into solids. He is a boob milk lovin' baby. Honestly, I think the only thing that pushed him to finally consider solids a worthy endeavor was me taking my boobs to work for 8 hours a day.
I don't really see why (short of health issues or allergies) one would skip offering solids after 6 months. Eventually, they do need other food sources especially for things like iron. That said, my baby is perfectly healthy despite being about 90% bf for the second half of his year, so I guess it's really not a huge deal either way.
We started with BLW at 6 months, and both my kids starting wolfing down any and all solids that they could get their lands on. By 8 months they would eat a plate of lasagna. I would have been happy to EBF past 6 months had my kids not been so damn into food.

I assume EBF before 6 months just means baby is only getting BM- from breast or bottle. After 6 months I assume it means baby is getting no formula, but is probably getting some solids.

With DS1 I introduced solids at 6 months and gradually worked up to 2, then 3 or more times a day. By 12 months he was only nursing a few times a day and was weaned at 13 months with no fuss. DS2 is 5.5 months and I am going to introduce solids next week.

Yes, I think this is right. From 0-6 months, my kids got only breastmilk, so were EBF. From 6 months on they got breastmilk and solid food, so were not EBF any longer.

I have known some people that think you shouldn't start until more like 9 months. I also think some babies haven't met all the milestones by 6 months (sitting up, interest in food, etc).
We did baby led weaning and from like 6-10 months they mostly played with the food and still got probably 90% of their calories from bm. It sucked. The only food they would eat enough of too fill up was junk like the puffs. Which how long do those really fill you up? So I was still nursing every 2 hours and their bilk consumption (based on how much they drank from bottles when I was gone) actually went up until about 12-14 months.
We introduced solids at 6 mos. for both (so, EBF until then.)
I've heard of the rare person...Mayim Bialik springs to mind...who EBFs well past 6 mos (I feel like her son was closer to a year?) I didn't see a benefit to it and my understanding was that it was important to introduce solids somewhere in the 6-12 mo. window to avoid potential difficulties with accepting solids down the line. I don't think there's any magic to doing it at precisely 6 mos., but I didn't see any value to waiting until a year like she did, either.
I tried introducing baby food at 6 months - DD wouldn't eat a thing. After a couple months of trying that, we did BLW. DD still wouldn't eat a thing. I don't think she reliably ate solids until she was like 13 months. We were still nursing 6-7x per day at that point.
She's still a sucky eater, but I'm trying to deal.
We did BLW starting at about 6.5 months, but DD really just played with food for a long time. She'd taste everything, but didn't consume much until 10 or 11 months. We also only did solids once or twice a day at first, and let her set whatever pace she was comfortable with. She is, to this day, a total booby baby, so I knew she was getting enough basic nutrition through BM.
She's a great eater now though, and will try anything - girl asked for sushi for dinner last night!

This BLW posts are encouraging. EVEN though I know the book says they won't eat for a while and that all they need is breastmilk...I feel like I am being a bad mom when DS (7 months) sucks on cantalope for all of 3 minutes before he throws it and starts yelling to get out of his highchair.
