Since Watson is a woman, there is always the chance that she and Sherlock will end up together.
Now, Sherlock can pair up Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman. That would be ok.
I don't watch it (DH does) but the show writers of Elementary have been VERY clear that they are keeping it a bromance. :-) They said right from the start that they will never do a romantic Holmes/Watson relationship (although who knows, since everybody lies).
Yeah, they won't be getting together. The writers have promised. Once in a blue moon there seems to be a smidge of sexual tension, but at this point the writers have kept their promise.
I've never been a Lucy Liu fan, but I absolutely love her in this show.
I never felt there was any sexual tension between Miller/Liu as Holmes and Watson. However, Cumberbatch and Freeman are about to jump each other's bones any second. lol!

Their relationship seems incredibly deep, and complicated. If they do end up loving each other it will be in the purest of ways. I adore their friendship and their interactions.

I really like this show, but I agree. It would be disappointing if they had a romantic relationship. At first I thought Kitty might become a romantic interest, but apparently not. (Unless it happened in the last two episodes. I'm not caught up, don't spoil it for me!)
