So, it's been almost a month and a half since we moved out from our apartment in Korea, and started the hotel living thing.
Last night, we signed the lease on a shiney new place to live (new to us, but also fairly recently built).
We have an address again!!! Not that we can move in quite yet - I need internet for work, and that can't get set up until Friday (boo! I am on the shortlist in case a spot opens up earlier in the installation schedule), and we need to schedule some deliveries of the first two shipments o'stuff to make it a bit more livable, but our days in hotels are numbered!
Now to go enjoy the breakfast buffet at the hotel, knowing that soon we'll have to start buying real groceries again.
Now to set up the utilities and everything for us. And figure out what we'll be sleeping on until our beds arrive from Korea (probably an air mattress...). Latest estimates have them about a month out.
We've managed to explore a fair amount near where our new place is. There's a super-target, a kohl's, a small mall, a small fabric store (that has Sunday hours!), a bunch of fast food/casual dining places that we haven't seen in a couple years, etc. There's a yarn shop in a neighbouring suburb, but I haven't yet checked it out (yes, really... we've been too busy for me to go yarn scouting!)
And, the best thing ever - we'll be all of ten minutes from the airport! (it's a teeny airport, so this won't come with bunches of air traffic noise, but it also has direct flights to ORD and DFW, so it doesn't increase the number of connections I'll have for travel). I can't remember _ever_ living this close to an airport. It's going to make work travel so much more pleasant! I'm stinking excited about this part!
Yay! I know you are eager to get settled into the new place. Have fun exploring the new area and catching up on the stores and food that you missed while in Korea.
That's exciting! How long to expect to be able to stay there?
Sadly, only a couple years. We've signed a 27 month lease (weird, yes... we asked for a 24 month lease, and the landlord wanted a 27 month lease). Either way, we'll have PCS orders when we leave, and the lease has a clause to allow us to leave with orders and 30 days notice.
