I should probably ask on H&F, but they don't know me and might think I'm a weirdo for posting this. You might think so too, but you love me so you'll forgive me my grossness.
The left one cracked and bled on my last run, it is still a little sensitive, but almost good. The right one got a blood blister, which is now all flat and hard, like a callous. Not sensitive at all.
I nromally run wednesdays, fridays and long run on sunday. I'm thinking of running just thursday and sunday to give my feet a break. WDYT? Good enough?
(from what the podiatrist told me, this will happen as long as I run without orthotics. But considering my half is in september and I still haven't received my orthotics, there is no way i'll break them in on time to use them, so I either give up or keep running as my feet keep getting uglier and crappier).

No. You need to let them heal or you'll be in a vicious cycle of never being fully recovered. You probably need to pull out of your half in Sept I'm sorry, but you'll only be damaging yourself more and more. Wait until you're healed and the orthotics are in to continue training/racing. In the mean time, there must be something else you can do to stay in shape, right? Hang in there!

emiliemadison is probably right. You are probably smart to listen to her.
but if it were ME, I would probably run on them. I would go knowing that if they hurt I would cut my run down, but I'd go. I'm also pyscho when it comes to training and HATE missing a training run, especially this close to a race.
ugh, I was worried someone would say that emilie. That's kinda what the podiatrist said too. I'm really dedicated to run this half, DH is running and training with me, and we are having so much fun, and since I plan on getting pregnant in the spring, odds are it won't happen again before at least 2-3 years.
I'll try running twice a week instead of three times and see if it is better, and I'll keep quitting as a possible option in the back of my mind.

Holy crap Papie is that from your shoes? I've never seen that on anyone but long distance marathoners. I would let that shit heal before they get worse.
OSW, it is from my bunions and overpronation. I wear corrective shoes, but it doesn't correct enough. It hurts a bit during the runs, but nothing crazy. My feet also get numb, but I can walk for 2-3 minutes and go back to running and feel fine.
Damn, I hate my feet. I'm so proud of myself because this is the most committed I've ever been to working out in my whole life. It is a huge deal for me to be able to run 10+K.
I used to rub my heels raw running whenever I got new shoes and would end up with bloody socks every day. My feet would eventually toughen up and be fine, though. It's only bled once? That's not so bad.
If it were me, I would probably not stop unless I was in very serious pain or unless my feet weren't healing after a couple weeks. But I also went running about 10 minutes after breaking a toe once, so take that with a grain of salt.
I would prob wrap it or bandage and continue to run. Do you wear anything else in your shoes like inserts? I over probate and have issues as well my podiatrist gave me little inserts the same day to place in shoe. It really helped
I would prob continue to run , not sure if it's the best thing , but I know if I rested and let it heal, once I started running it would happen again. Feet suck!
I can't say I wouldn't run, because I run on bad knees knowing I might do further damage. Are you sure there's no way you could break in the orthotics before your half?
