I'm stealing this from y4m over on MM bc I'm too lazy to re-type the same stuff. I think we need some suggestions on what you guys WANT me, Shay, and Chancie to mod/remove/lock/whatever
Can we spend a thread talking about how this board should be run? Is there anything aside from obvious spam and maliciously posted personal info that the mods should delete? What about regulars posting spamish stuff (e.g. vote for my kid or check out my etsy store?)? Is it cool to delete whole threads at the OP's request (since unfortunately you can't do that yourself here)?
Is there ever a time a thread should be locked? Moved to a subboard?
Anything controversial (like adding a subboard, apparently) - should we just follow a majority vote?
etc.
I don't think we need any subboards just yet. We're not big enough to need them, and I have no idea what subboards we'd even want in the future.
Regarding Etsy stores, photography businesses, etc, I wouldn't have a problem if a simple text link to them is in a user's siggy, but I don't think posting about the business would be cool.

Exactly. If I'm interested, I'll click on your siggy. Saying it's ok for people to make posts about their businesses (even if it's ok for "regulars") opens up a can of worms, I think. Other than the obvious spam and personal info, though, I can't think of anything else that should be deleted.
And I think that if an OP wants a post removed, the mods should remove it. Yes, DDs are annoying and cause some drama, but I believe that a person's prerogative to regret posting something and want it removed should not be overridden by others getting annoyed because they wasted time posting something that was deleted. FTR, I've never done a DD because I didn't like answers. I just strongly believe that, while annoying, it should be the OP's right to delete it.

I totally agree w/ all of this. I am fine w/ siggy's including links to etsy and other things, but don't really want to see people advertising their things on the board.
I also don't like DD's, and haven't DD'd, but people should have a right to delete a post. But I'm not against a new post stating a DD took place and why.
Posts should be deleted at the users request only if it gives any personal information. Not if the user is an idiot and wants it deleted "just because".EX: If they come here asking " Am I pregnant"? and don't like the responses, so what! Leave it so the next one can see what kind of responses they will get. I think it might decrease the amount of lameness. I could be completely wrong though.
Possible Sub boards: 2WW and WTO. They could have their own space for who wants to participate and it won't clog up this board? (If this is what a sub board is for)?
