My RE had me go to the OB before officially graduating from him. The way my appointments ended up, I went to the OB at 9 weeks, and then the RE the next day. I'm not really sure why; I guess he just wanted to make sure everything was okay with the OB before sending me off. After that, I was basically a regular OB patient. I think at first my OB was worried that whatever issues I had that prevented me from getting pregnant would cause issues during pregnancy, but we both realized pretty quickly that everything was fine. It was weird to be a normal patient at the OB, and it was weird to only have appointments once a month. But that's really it.
We had ultrasounds and bloodwork with the RE at 6, 8, and 10 weeks, then our NT scan at 12.5 weeks. I was released to my OB after that and had my first appt at 15 weeks.
How far along are you? I'm so excited for you!
ETA- after I went to the OB, I had my anatomy scan at 19 weeks, and monthly appts until 28 weeks, biweekly until 36 weeks, then weekly until delivery. I had a growth ultrasound at 32 weeks, because if my hypothyroidism, otherwise the anatomy scan would have been my only ultrasound after going to the OB.
I had RE appointments weekly until 7 or 8 weeks, but at my 6 week appointment they told me to call my OB to get started there. They said I should try to get in within the next 3 weeks or so, but OB was able to take me the next week. When I was supposed to switch from PIO to endometrin but got horrible pains, I called the RE and I think they thought I should have called to OB, but I figured since it was under RE's instruction, I should call them.
I've gone to OB just about every 4 weeks, after my next appointment (30 weeks) it will then be every 2 weeks, not sure when it will switch to every week. I had transvag ultrasounds my first 2 appointments at OB, I don't think I was going to get any scan at my 3rd appointment, but we mentioned going to visit my parents the next week and announce to them, so I got a belly ultrasound for pics. No ultrasounds at OB since then, just doppler. NT scan at 13 weeks, anatomy scan at 20 weeks, and like azurely that would have been my last ultrasound, except I have GD, so I'll be getting some more.
Is it weird that I want to hug you? I'm so excited!
I'm 8 weeks. I have what I am pretty sure is my last RE appt this afternoon. At my 6 week appt, they told me to go ahead and schedule an OB appt, but I made it for next week. I'm not ready to give up my ultrasounds!
Thank you, nmosrob! I'll take it. (It's been too long since we've chatted. I'm thinking of you as Ms. Rob again!)
I'm also considering switching from my OBGYN to a midwifery group closer to home, but I am not quite sure. Ideally, I would like a low intervention birth, but I want all the tests now. I'm still quite anxious.

I thought I should get all the extra tests and everything because I thought I had too many issues and would have problems. There is a midwife and an ob at my office, and I ended up wanting the midwife for everything. At first I felt like I needed the ob because modern medicine/I did IVF/I need many interventions to be pregnant, but I realized that it didn't matter if it was the ob or the midwife because I was just a normal patient now. My midwife let me have any tests I wanted and was empathetic toward everything I had been through. And if there are things that the midwife (or even regular ob) can't handle, they will send you on to the medical professional that can.
I had weekly ultrasounds and bloodwork with my RE until about 10 weeks, then saw the OB at 11 weeks. I was definitely sad to leave and give up the weekly ultrasounds.
At my first OB appointment they did a full exam and pap smear (since I hadn't had one in the past year), and we heard the heartbeat via doppler. I also had to get a bunch of bloodwork done. I also scheduled my NT scan and Harmony test with MFM for right before 13 weeks.
I was with my RE until 12 1/2 weeks. She did my NT Scan. OB would have done it but I wasn't ready to leave the RE yet. I actually cried my last visit with her.
My first OB appt was at 15 weeks. I had an ultrasound but that was mainly because I had twins. He sat with me and asked if I had any questions, then did blood and urine sample. It was kind of nice to have a normal pregnant appointment since the ones with the RE were always just a blood draw and ultrasound.
I had ultrasounds and blood work with the RE until 6w, then she graduated me. That same day, I called my OB and made an appointment for 8w on the dot. They asked me LMP, and I gave it to them, but said that because it was IVF, I have exact date of conception (I was spotting so much before my period that I didn't really have an exact date for LMP). So they're dating based on that. I had an u/s at the 8w OB appointment, because they do it with all patients.
As soon as my OHSS resolved, I was considered a low risk OB patient. Ditto pp that it's weird to only have appointments once a month. Thank goodness for dopplers and u/s at work.

My office does a combo. I have an OB and got ALL the tests but I also split 50% of my appointment with the midwife and they work in tandem.
Is that an option maybe?
I'm at my regular OBGYN now. The hospital is on the far side though, so I may switch to a midwifery group that delivers closer to home. I feel a little bad going to her now, knowing I plan to switch. I mean, I *just* got back from the RE. I don't know.
