THIS IS NOT REAL LIFE!!!!!!!!
Something happened to my pool because of the weight of all the snow and there's so much snow out there that I can't even go out and really investigate because most of the pool is covered in snow. I got home last night and there's a water main leak between my house and my neighbor's, but the city doesn't know where it's coming from because THERE'S SO MUCH SNOW. Fuck. I give up.
Oh crap, that sucks about the water main leak. I hope they can find a way to get to it and fix it
I really wonder about putting our house on the market with all this snow on the ground. Will potential buyers just take it on faith that the yard under all that snow isn't a disaster? And how the hell would they inspect the roof? At this rate, the snow won't be gone until June.
Personally, I wouldn't ever buy a house without seeing the full picture, but you live in a highly desired area. My friend lived in the house directly across the street from the bar in your 'hood (2 houses down from the paint store) and her house sold after being on the market for less than a day for more than asking. I don't think you have anything to worry about, which is an awesome situation to be in!!

donthasslethehoff our above ground pool partially collapsed last year because of all the snow. The side where the filter and stuff hooks up caved in. The liner didn't rip and they were able to put up an additional piece of wall in that section of the pool. It doesn't match and looks out of place but other than that worked fine all last year. It wasn't expensive but we did have to drain the pool. Hopefully you can do a repair like that to yours.

From the looks of it, it looks like something collapsed. The snow that's on the top of the cover is way caved in. I didn't drain the pool down as much as it appears to be sunken in, so I am worried. We just built a very expensive deck around about 40% of it and relined the pool 2 summers ago. If the pool cannot be salvaged, I am not replacing it, but at the same time, it's going to cost so much money to redo the deck so that it doesn't look like it was built specifically to surround a pool.

What you said gives me hope though.
Yep sounds like our pool. I would walk around the sides and see if the top is crushed down on that side where everything hooks up. The pool repairman said that is a weak side because of all the hose attachments and everything. My guy was out of Plaistow called Aqua Dream he would probably be able to give you an estimate once its the spring about salvaging and everything. We found ours in late April and they were already booking weeks out so I would start calling sooner rather than later to get put on a list for repairs when it warms up. I am pretty sure it was $800 to repair plus the cost of the water for our huge pool which ended up not being nearly as much as I thought. I don't have pictures on my phone anymore but if you can get out there and look and take a picture if it is crushed/partially collapsed and upload it and I can tell you if it is similar looking damage.
I hope you have minimal damage like I had last year and it is not much worse off.
They're not all this bad, I swear! We've just had a rough couple of years, but usually Mother Nature balances it out with light years sprinkled in. It's the damn global climate change I tell you.
I believe it. It's 85* back home in CA. If I wasn't getting on a plane to Dubai on Saturday ( fingers crossed) then I think I'd be about to be committed!

I assume you're from SoCal? I'm a NorCal girl myself
Dubai--cool! Vacation?
Yep, SoCal about a half hour from Disney. Yes, my inlaws live there. I'm taking the kids as MH is going away on business and I could not stomach the idea of being alone ( AGAIN!) with both kids and my older DD not having school. We cashed in on the awesome deal Orbitz ran on Christmas- it's literally cheaper than going to CA. It will either be fun & magical or like.. The worst idea ever lol
OH no! I'm so sorry to hear about the pool and the water main
We're holding steady, but we are about to pay $$$ to have 2 guys come shovel our roof tomorrow. And H just bought a roof rake. Thank you Amazon
have you used the roof rake yet? We use one but we had a problem a few days ago where there was no where for the snow to go when we were pulling it down because it was already so high in the yard that it was coming back up onto our farmers porch in the front. We had shovel out a "moat" in the yard so that the snow we pulled off the roof of the porch could go in it. This snow is just crazy!
We're supposed to land at Logan at 4 pm tomorrow. Are we going to make it or be stuck in FL until Monday? I guess I wouldn't mind that, but we have stuff to do!

I hope that they find the leak quickly and it is an easy fix. My in laws had a partial collapse of their pool a few years back and it was salvageable and I believe was not expensive to fix. I hope yours is too.

They found the leak! It's at my neighbor's house. They're the nicest people in the world, so I feel really bad. The city actually hooked up their water to my house because they had to shut their water off for a day or 2. The wife accidentally left for a few hours last night without leaving their water running, and the hose connecting their house to mine froze, so they're without water again.
Luckily, I talked to the construction guy, and if this happens to our house (which inevitably it will) it's free to fix. They just have to dig a hole in your basement. ugh.

Our window at work broke from the snow. My company is on the lower level which still has 3ft high windows but they're at the top of the walls because we're slightly subterranean. The management guys were taking it off the roof and the falling snow pushed the existing snow and the pressure cracked the outer window pane. Insane!
