A few months back I bought 2 big bags (they were on sale!) and started adding it to smoothies and oatmeal. Now I'm only like 1/4 of the way through the first bag and I'm trying to think of other things to put it in.

Add to any type of cereal, applesauce, soup, beans, chili, cottage cheese, egg/tuna/potato/pasta salads, use as filler for meatloaf, meatballs or hamburgers, add to waffle, pancake, muffin or quick bread batters, mix into mashed potatoes and spaghetti sauce.

I use it as an egg substitute in mostly baking. You soak the ground flax seed in water & it puffs up into squishiness. I use that instead of eggs in pancakes, cakes, muffins…it really helps to bind it & helps the texture.

I've been meaning to try this but have questions.
What is the water to seed ratio? How much of it do you need to replace an egg?

Yeah, see, I don’t really know! I was thinking as I wrote before that I should mention a ratio, but I have no idea. I put the ground seed in a cup and then pour enough water until there is about ¼ extra on top & then stir. By the time you’re done preparing the rest of the ingredients, it’s usually puffed up. I think I do about 2-3 tbsp for 1 egg. I’m not very exact, though. Sorry I’m not much of a help.

I add it to peanut butter, and have it on bananas. I also use it in baking… I'll put some in breads, muffins, etc. Or, I'll use it as a vegan egg substitute in baking… 1 egg equals 1 tbs ground flax/3 tbs water. Set in fridge for a few minutes and it turns into the consistency of egg whites. I've used it to make banana bread and brownies - you can't tell the difference!
I put ground flax seed and also wheat germ in just about anything. Sprinkle it on cereal, put it in scrambled eggs, yogurt, smoothies, pancakes, brownies, lasagna . . . all kinds of stuff.
I had NO IDEA that it can be used as an egg substitute!!! That is so cool and I am going to start trying this!
