My recruiter is full of shit

He basically told me that they only let people take the ASVAB locally if they have doubt that the person will be smart enough to pass it.

Called a different recruiter and they said if I wanted to take it here before going to MEPS that wouldn't be any problem.


I have a feeling recruiter #1 just wanted to get me pushed through the system without giving me time to think over all my options.

Uh... Find a different recruiter. And/or talk to that recruiter's boss

I have not been to MEPS- haven't signed anything yet. Frankly this recruiter has not been particularly helpful or forthcoming with information. I want to take the ASVAB to see what jobs I might be qualified for before I go in to MEPS and talk to H and my dad about my options. I feel like if I go there alone without a plan of attack beforehand I might get talked into choosing something I'd regret later.

The first recruiter is right and the second is talking about the pretest.

You can only take the asvab at a MEPS or an approved satellite location.

I was just going to say the same thing as bigmamma. My husband recruited for 4 years, he could administer the pre-test so they had an idea how the recruit would do on the ASVAB but the test itself was only ever taken at MEPS
