DS is good. 20 months today. WTAF? Finally got his first haircut, too!
Had a bit of a health scare with him through July, but he's mostly recovered. Suffice to say that MRSA is a scary bitch you don't even want to deal with!
hi! I was wondering how he ended up with a PICC line when I saw your pics on FB.
do you have any idea where he contacted MRSA?
We're pretty sure the little booger infected HIMSELF! Of all the freaking things...
When he was admitted, they did a nasal swab for MRSA and it came back positive almost immediately. So they theorized that he smeared his gross toddler nose-run on his food/hands/something, and got it into his system.
They also said that blood circulates more sluggishly around toddler/infant knee joints and they are seeing more knee infections due to this. I guess they think the MRSA got in his system and got "hung up" in his left knee. He never cut himself there, never got a splinter...nothing.
All of a sudden, it was just there. He had an aspiration (took out 20+ cc's of infection) and a surgery to flush it out. The PICC line was for home treatment of hard core antiobiotics to fight the MRSA. Good times!
I'm not SAH, actually. I started my dream job last June and haven't looked back. It's amazing. They are just the best people and I love what I do.
Thanks! He's in PT once a week, and they need to do an extension brace to help him out, but otherwise, he's happy and doesn't remember it really. He will point to his scar and say "Knee...booboo? Yeah?" but that's about it.
