Can you share your skin care routine? What products do you use? (Minus makeup) I'm pretty simple and my skin is sensitive. I wash with cetaphil and use either cetaphil or cerave moisturizer. About once or twice a week I use st Ives scrub. I have a glycolic acid cream that I really should use. I feel like my skin is a bit blotchy/uneven. One of my coworkers started using retin A micro and her skin is looking awesome, so I'm thinking of getting an rx for that.

I can not say enough about coconut oil. I have sensitive acne prone skin and have been using it as a cleanser and makeup remover for a few months. Now my skin looks better than it ever has even with pregnancy hormones.
I also use gloprofessionals hydrating Glo cleanser and their exfoliator occasionally and have been pleased with them as well.
Nine months out of the year, I wash with CeraVe/Cetaphil, use a Resveratrol cream + sunscreen for A.M. and Retin-A + mild moisturizer for P.M. I use my Clarisonic a couple times a week and get microdermabrasion every 8 weeks or so.
For the winter months, I have to drop all active products and treatments because I dry out so much. I'm a recent convert to Paula's Choice products for very dry skin. They have worked a small miracle for me.

My routine: -Boscia Makeup Breakup Cleansing Oil to remove makeup (pm) -Paula's Choice Skin Balancing cleanser (am) with Clarisonic (pm) -PC Skin Balancing toner (am and pm) -PC Clear BHA exfoliant (pm) -PC Clear Regular Strength breakout treatment (pm) -PC Resist Retinol Serum (around eyes only; pm) -Cerave eye cream (am and pm) -PC Hydralight moisturizer (am and pm)
I cannot say enough about how amazing PC products have been for my skin. Totally life changing for me. FWIW I cannot use prescription stregth retinol products- they destroyed my skin when I tried using them a few years ago. The PC strength retinol is fine. I occasionally use it all over my face.
-Mario Badescu Enzyme Cleansing Gel or Zum facial soap. I like the Zum better than MB. -Mario Badescu AHA and Ceramide Moisturizer -Occasionally, like once a week or so, St Ives nourishing and soothing scrub (has oatmeal in it, less harsh than the apricot)
That's it right now. And if I feel too lazy to do a full face wash before bed, I use my face wipes to remove makeup, but that's not an every night thing. Most nights I do a proper face wash.
I'm thinking about getting an AHA exfoliant, like from PC or from Alpha Hydroxy brand (found in my Ulta). PC rated the Alpha Hydroxy highly.

that's a concern of mine. As a young teenager, I suffered from acne and paired with sensitive skin and an allergy to benzoyl peroxide it was a nightmare. My dermatologist had me trying so many different rx creams. One was retin A and I was a mess, peeling and flakey and red. My skin has changed since then and they have many different retinols available now, so I'm not sure how they'd work for me. I rarely break out, but I do have blackheads and my skin is much dryer than my teenage years-aka pizza face phase.
I think you got cleansing and moisturizing down. But you may need BHA over AHA. And I can't say enough about Paulas Choice. Contact them and they will give you recs. I love the products!
So many people here love PC, so I really need to look into it. I'd never heard of the products other than here.

Ordinarily, when folks on GBCN start coalescing around a single product or brand, I tend to be skeptical because I'm naturally contrarian. So far, however, I am having a very positive experience with my PC products. They have done what my aesthetician and dermatologist could not, which is give me products strong enough to moisturize my painfully dry skin in super cold weather.
Cetaphil was actually too harsh for my sensitive skin.
AM: Boscia gel cleanser or Bliss cleansing milk; glycolic toner, Derma E vitamin E cream, Origins eye cream PM: Boscia MUBU or coconut oil, Derma E vitamin E cream, Dennis Gross eye serum
Once a week: Bliss anti-aging glycolic clay mask which I love love love. Such a game changer for me, even use it on a splotchy spot on my back and it's evened out almost completely.

Have you tried aczone? It's good stuff
Yes, years ago and it worked well. I don't need anything for acne regularly these days.
I wash with Cetaphil or CeraVe. Use coconut oil or Cetaphil moisturizer at night. During the day I moisturize with Clinique City Block because it has spf and antioxidants. I also use Retin A at night and Alpha Hydrox AHA souffle at least once a day. My skin has never looked better. Its not perfect but I've seen significant changes. The key is Retin A (or other form of tretinoin), glycolic acid, and using a sunscreen with antioxidants during the day. I also had splotchy skin with red patches, but I don't anymore. This is a pic of me with no makeup.
I think you should cut the St. Ives. Abrasive exfoliants scratch and damage the skin at a microscopic level. I recommend a gentle buf puf, a Clarisonic, or just a wash cloth used while washing your face. Glycolic acid is a chemical exfoliant and if you start using it daily, you will see the benefits without having to use something abrasive.
Expect really bad peeling for a good month when you start Retin A. It sucks but your skin will eventually adjust and will then look great.

A.M. Wash with water or sometimes Simple face wash, Clinique serum, use Simple moisturiser with SPF 15. P.M. Wash with coconut oil, Clinique serum, use more oil for moisturising
-Cleanser in the shower w/Clarisonic (Neutrogena Pore Refining or Nip + Fab Glycolic Fix cleanser) -serum (right now i'm using an Aveeno serum that I got in a product trial but i'll be switching to Organic Doctor Virgin Coconut Oil Elixir when that is gone) -eye cream (Restoresea but I have been liking Benefit It's Potent eye also) -Moisturizer (FAB Ultra Repair Cream, twice a day)
To remove makeup at night I use Simple wipes in the green package.
I need to be more routine about using peel pads. Right now I have Peter Thomas Roth but i've liked the Dr Dennis Gross pads in the past. I also occasionally use a Biore deep pore strip.
I would also like to start using masks more routinely! Great post, can't wait to see what others use.

I wash with Arcona toner tea bar in the morning and at night. I use the Arcona cranberry scrub a couple times a week in the shower. I use clinique even better moisturizer in the morning and the clinique moisture surge at night.
I also like to use the Arcona tea tree mask once a week.
My skin has been a hot mess since having DS and this routine has finally helped. Now if I could get rid of a few acne scars...
DirtySouth, your skin looks great! I just recieved some samples that I ordered from Paula's choice as well as a treatment serum. I'm still considering the retin A.
I'm another Paula's choice convert. I've been using it for almost a year. I can def tell the different in my skin and I love how helpful PC's customer service is. When i was first starting out I wasn't sure what I needed and they really guided me based on products that had worked for me in the past. I find their reviews and beautypedia very helpful too. PC has a new retinol treatment, is that the same type of thing as retain a? I got it as a sample duo in my last order. I've only used it a couple of times but so far I like.
my routine with PCs CLEAR Face wash Skin Balancing Toner BHA Exfoliant with Salyicic acid AM/PM or weekly 4% BHA foam Resist Retinol Serum day / Resist Skin brightening treatment PM Skin mattifying spf moisturizer Day / Moisturizing gel night
Weekly I use a mask. Either non PC Indian healing clay or the PC's mud mask ( i recently ordered it seems good so far)
I've been replacing the exfoliant at night every 2 days with the clinical retinol treatment i got as a bonus.

What order do you apply your products at night?! I've been using Tretinoin but I think I need to add a moisturizer...do you moisturize first, then apply Retin-A or Retin-A first, then moisturize?

I used to wash my face, then wait 15-30 minutes before applying tretinoin (so that you get the full effect of the cream) and then any additional products afterwards. My derm recommended waiting after you wash your face because it reduces irritation and peeling. I've been lazy and haven't been waiting for 15 minutes after washing my face and my face is definitely more irritated.

I think it depends on how your skin does. If your skin tolerates it, wash, let skin dry 15 minutes, then apply tretinoin and then moisturizer. I've started moisturizing first, though, because my skin doesn't get as irritated this way. My best friend's derm told her to make a Retin A "sandwich" and moisturize, apply retin A, and then moisturize again.
