Today was rough. I took the lightrail into work. No problem super easy. Getting home MUCH worse. It was over 100 and I had to walk 10 minutes to the station. Then I missed the first train because I hadn't gotten my ticket yet because the ticket machine on the side of the tracks I needed to be on was out of order. Then I get to another machine, am 10 cents short have no other change and the machine won't take my $20. I didn't want to ask anyone for money so I called E and he came and got me and gave me the car. I don't know that doing this for 2 months to save money to have a larger down payment is going to happen. Ugh.
Bright side. The deducible for the truck is only $100 because it was vandalism and not an accident!!!!
Can you buy a week's worth of fares at one time? I used to do this with the Metro so I didn't have to waste time with the ticket machines every day.
I think so. I have to look into it some more. I think E is willing to come to my work to get me and then go to school( its really close to my work). So we shall see. I think the heat is just going to be too much.

I don't know your city, but I've used public transport all over, even in less than awesome locations. It's my dirty hippie coming through
In many locations you can get a packet of tickets, usually less than for each ride. In Denver I bought them from the grocery store. In others, you can buy a flat rate card that you refill as needed. Again, a discount from the per ride fare. The good part is those cards can usually be put on debit. I've literally purchased those type cards all over the world.
Finally, your alternative could be my car which has an a/c that needs to be repaired, so while it may blow cold much of the trip, it will blast hot air intermittently. I'd have to pay $500 to have it fixed (after the hundreds I've spent to diagnose). The bus is always so cold I need a sweater! Instead, I drive my car blowing hot air at me and sweat, hoping the a/c will kick in. It's not necessarily the better proposition.
Once you get the hang of it you will be more comfortable on it. It just takes some practice. Don't give up all the way.
I love the train. I won't drive in large cities, it gives me way too much anxiety. I love that I can get on the train and go to NYC or take a train into Philly.

I'm not giving up. I love taking it in the mornings. The afternoons it just way too hot to walk to the station and then walk from the station by our house home. E's cool with picking me up in the afternoons until we get this whole are we going to be a 1 car family or a 2 car family thing worked out.
