Every time my SIL comes home my internet connection starts to suck big time. Could it be that her iphone is eating up my ability to connect? Anyway, I'm really freaking irritated by it because it is disturbing my ability to skype with my husband.

I doubt it unless you have a slow speed plan. Both of our phones can be connected via wifi & it won't affect the computer.
