Have you washed all the bedding and everything down with hot water?
My Mom has the same issue, we looked it up and if you use food grade (NOT pool) diatomaceous earth on the rug VERY lightly and small patches around the house, it will kill them. It's safe for kids/pets, but a tiny amount goes a long way.
for real, though, yeah. I'm quite certain this is fleas. 1. My dog has them bad right now. 2. the cats have them. 3. I've seen them! :@ +o( :-( 4. don't scare the piss out of me!!!!!! 5. besides, nobody else has the bites and I'm always a magnet for mosquitoes and fleas for some reason.

Get Comfortis pills from your vet! It is a miracle pill! It kills fleas within 30 minutes. It's only for dogs, but I'm sure there is some kind of alternative for cats.
If this happens on the regular with your pets, geta bed bug mattress incasement. It covers the entire mattress, not just the top. Also, put a flea collar in your vac canister. Vac your mattresses and anything else that cannot be washed.
We use this stuff, and it's the shit. Starts working within minutes. Our vet turned us on to it.
We just spray her if we see her itching more than regular, and for good measure we spray the couch and carpet. It has an alcohol odor for about 30 minutes but after that I don't notice it. I've found it at Wal-Mart and Petsmart.
We just started using Program tablets with our cat. After a year of Advantage and Frontline not doing a damn thing, a combination of Program and Capstar tablets finally did the trick. Good luck!
we moved the dog out of the bedroom in part because of that and because she kept waking me up all night long.
we keep the cat out due to FI's allergies...
so no more fleas in our bed.
then i vacuumed like crazy and steam cleaned the house.
if FI actually had kept up with putting the flea and tick control stuff on the dog, we'd never have the problem...so i'm the one who makes sure it's done now.

I agree with the comfortis. When the dogs had them a few months ago I had to finally go to the vet because the advantix wouldn't get rid of them on the dogs. He said the fleas have built an immunity to it and its no really effective anymore.
You also need to flea bomb your house. I put one in every room and you need to be out of the house for at least four hours.
Also, the life cycle of the flea is larvae to egg to adult. Its almost a three month cycle, so you may still find them in the home for a while. I had to bomb twice. Bomb the house, then vacuum it all up. Put the contents on the vacuum in a sealed bag outside. Clean your canister out with clorox wipes.
Sorry...its such a pain in the ass. And this year has sucked for fleas in florida because it never got cold enough to kill off the ones from last year during the winter so we had to treat the lawn as well.
