To answer my own questions, I'm doing well, it's my birthday today, but I'm not planning anything special.
My favorite dinner this week was a veal dish last night. I basically combined 2 recipes. (Saltimboca and veal with mushrooms) and it turned out awesome! Even better was dessert, made from leftover meringue and lemon curd, which I'd used for my birthday cupcakes. Dee-lish!
This thread just reminded me that I forgot to take anything out of the freezer for dinner. Oops. Plus I've had work dinners/HHs all week and haven't cooked at all. Fail.
Why wouldn't you be able to eat deli meats when pregnant? I've never heard that before. (I'm not in the US and guidelines are different in every country, but I'd never heard that one before. No raw milk cheeses yes, no raw meats as well, but deli meats is new to me.)
Ah, ok listeria. That's not an issue here, fortunately! Only 40 cases a year and 50 percent of that is from raw meats, 30 percent raw milk cheeses the rest is seafood, veggies and deli meats.According to research only 1 percent of listeria infections cime from deli meats, so that's 1 case every 2.5 years. The chance of catching e-coli from washing veggies is higher than the chance of getting listeria from deli meats.
(*) Happy birthday, NL! (*) Have a drink on me :drink:
Sunday's my cooking day, I usually make enough food to last us through Thursday. Tonight though, it's H's turn and he'll probably make burgers IF he remembered to bring down the guac from the freezer.
If not, it's so damn hot up in here that we'll probably order in from the Brazilian place. Ribs, chicken and sausage! We'll cook up some veggies in bacon fat and a nice spinach salad no matter what we end up getting.
