What is up, MF?
I got a few extra hours to myself this morning. (Thanks boss!) Too bad that has to be spent on house cleaning/organizing. Grad school is kicking my ass. Any spare moment I have must be devoted to reading. Blah. I used to love learning, then Grad School happened.
H has been super awesome and supportive. He has done most of the house chores and made me dinner last night. Love that man. Probably helps that I am making his child. (Points to siggy) :-)
How are things going for you? Any fun weekend plans?
Yesterday we went on the "newcomers welcome" thing for the new base. And, it was really cool!
The morning was boring death by powerpoint, but the afternoon started with a tour of the base (on a bus) with one of the base historians telling us all about the history of the base. Then we dropped off the historian, and two dudes from the local chamber of commerce got on the bus and took us all around the surrounding area, pointing out city facilities and cool parks and event locations and shopping and brew pubs and talking about the area and events and just a whole wealth of information about the area.
I've _never_ seen something like that at any other installation we've lived at. I know we've only been to a fairly short list of places, but it was certainly notable here, and pretty darn cool.
Oh, and weekend plans - today we get shipment 2 of 4. This is the stuff the military stored for us for the time we were in Korea. Can't wait! The movers should be here in an hour or so.
And, this weekend we're planning to go see a ballet performance. One of the guys we've met here is dancing in it, so we figure it would be good to support, and it sounds like an interesting take on a classic story, so it should be interesting.
I'm so excited for you brandienee! Your baby is bound to be gorgeous!
That's really cool audette. Figuring out all the local stuff is quite a task when you move- H and I have been slowly exploring our new area. But a tour would be awesome.
I'm working on cleaning the house during baby naps today. Tonight H's work is having a big party at a bar, with a band and everything. I have a babysitter coming so we can go enjoy ourselves and I can have a drink!
No big plans. I'm meeting a friend for coffee tomorrow. That's as exciting as my weekend gets. But I've had enough excitement for this week, so I'm ok with that
We told our families about the pregnancy last night. I swore I wouldn't want to tell so soon, but the combination of H going TDY the day after we found out and that both our parents knew we we're going through IVF made me change my mind. They were thrilled for us.
That's incredible audette!! I am so so glad that you're having a good experience so far. Do you have your yarn back yet?
It was neat! We had a bit of an inside scoop here - there's a couple GBCNs in the area that have given us some good tips and info, but the tour was still full of useful info, and was a great welcome.
Sadly, no yarn stash yet. That should be in either shipment 3 or 4. The yarn is still (we think) on a container, somewhere in the pacific...

G22 - that's great news! Happy and Healthy pregnancy!!!
brandienee, CONGRATS! How perfect that you're near done with grad school too.
audette, that is hella cool. They need to do that at all posts!
G22, it probably doesn't help that I've been tearing up today anyway (see my other post), but I am tearing up for you. I'm so very glad it took. H&H 9 months!!!!!
I have some decent news that I'm not ready to share (not a safe place), but I'm in a great mood today.
Gah, I hate that certain people have ruined this for you.
We have no permanent plans. Tentatively planning dinner for my mom's birthday on Suday, but we may have to change plans. H's friend was involved in an explosion at his work yesterday so we may have to take their kids or get their vehicles back to their house, etc.

I'm glad your having a good news kind of day, even if you can't share!

We had our wills done today so yay, I guess? It took a little longer than expected but the people at the JAG office were great to work with. Although you can't go 2 feet in there without bumping elbows with a pregnant service member. It's as though they have no other place to send them when they get kicked off their ships or something. I always thought there'd be a greater variety of places to send them.
I'm not ready for DH to leave yet but he's going soon, so I guess I just have to hold my breath and power through.

Oh God. Is his friend okay? How scary!
He has 2nd-3rd degree burns on 8% of his body, mostly his hands, face, and head. He's incredibly lucky. He will be in the hospital he is in (in another town) for at least 8 more days. But he's in good spirits so far so that's good.
brandienee, I could have posted the same thing about grad school this time last year. Now that it's over, I sort of miss it.
I'm sick, just in time for the weekend. I wouldn't have gone to work today except that I knew the counselors were pulling all of my morning classes out for mandatory presentations. By the time my afternoon classes hit I must have looked as miserable as I felt, since my kids were super compliant when I gave them independent work to finish while I sat at my desk and tried not to infect anyone. So I got paid, got grading done, and sat on my ass all day. This weekend will probably involve a lot of TV time for my sons since I definitely won't be recovered until (I hope) Monday.

Brandie and G22 I am so excited for you ladies!
I'm working on my Teaching Performance Assessment that is way over due. I need to get it done. I also am going to be working on my Master's application essay. Dh has a list of errands he wants us to run tomorrow so that will happen as well.
And this hiring process for the job Dh interviewed for is making me stabby. Its been a month, we know he is the top of 3. The background checks were complete last week so now we are waiting to get final word.
OMG it's the never ending story! He got an email Monday that he will get a formal offer later this week. But who knows at this point. Thanks for asking!
