I've never bought any pictures because I don't really display pictures. I have bought many autographs though (bonus is those are usually cheaper than pictures) since they can sign cool things to put on my shelves . I've felt like there's a pretty good amount of time to actually meet the celebrities while they're signing stuff. I have a nice collection of Star Trek plates and have most of the original and TNG cast, so I've paid for most of those. It seems like most 'average' celebrities are around $40 so I've gotten used to paying that, although it adds up so fast! And high demand are $80 or so, so with those it has to be someone I really want to meet - like Leonard Nimoy or Patrick Stewart.
I would pay to get autographs from the Star Trek TNG cast and Tom Hiddleston. There are more I would love to meet but I'm super awkward in that kind of situation and I don't want to waste money when I know I'll just act like a dork.
There are some people I'd love to meet, but I get all awkward. I went to a talk and book signing with Neil Gaiman last year, and when it was my turn in line, I pretty much became the most introverted person ever, grabbed my signed book, and took off. I kept thinking, "He's tired. He's been signing stuff for hours. You should be considerate. He probably gets sick of all these people trying to talk to him."

Noooo! He's so great with everyone, you should have talked to him! I met him at a small pop up signing and he customized my book with a joke we had in line about all of us in line acting like he was an ATM (standing back 4' until it was our turn).
Someday I'm going to spend an assload of cash at a Supernatural con and meet J &J.

And I will be there yes? I feel like this is something we should share together.

I tend to get awkward around celebrities so I would only pay to meet them if I had something I really wanted signed, like when I got my Codex staff signed by the cast of The Guild. I agree with preferring to just watch them at a panel

They are coming to MSP this summer. I'm crushed that I'm #1, poor and #2 attending a wedding that weekend.
Noooo!
I seriously want to save up for the Gold Ticket level, even though it's insane. Reserved seat for all panels! Special session with the boys! Everyone's autograph!

I still die a little when I think about the fact that I missed meeting Matt Smith by roughly 10 minutes when he was filming in Detroit. Because my kids got bored and there wasn't anything formal in place so I didn't know if he'd be talking to people anyway, so we left.
