So what's in for this spring? If I want to splurge on an aspirational brand, what might I look for?
Honestly, I'm in Iowa - I get a lot of ooohs and ahhhs on my Nordstrom Rack purchases here But I like to be a little fashion forward, and I haven't picked up a fashion magazine in like a year. I have no idea what's stylish right now.
I need a new handbag, new flats and/or sandals, and new sunglasses (are there shapes that are in for this year? Mine are just oversized tortoiseshell, I think they are starting to look a little dated).
Approximately, oh 34 mos ago, aka time before kids, I could have answered this. Now, I slub around wearing what fits ALWAYS with an ON tank underneath so I can nurse. Who am I and when will the real awinter please stand up?
Printed pants are back - the fabrics seem to be softer/more drapey than before. Matchy-matchy stuff seems to be in too, like a printed top with the same print on the bottom. Pastels. The whole crop top/high waisted skirt thing seems to be hitting the mainstream now. Kill me. Kimonos. Super-ripped denim.
(I hate all of this stuff for the record, except for maybe the kimonos.)

I kind of want a pair of ripped jeans. It's like I am 22 all over again.

OMG almost all of this sounds terrible to me. I will never be fashionable!
Well, I don't hate the color pink so I'll just dress like Pepto-Bismol every day and hope for the best.

Am I the only person who flippin hates Nordstrom Rack. Pretty much everything I buy comes from Nordstrom but I have a strong hate for Rack.
I only like it on weekdays, and I only like the clearance racks. That's where you find the marked down stuff that actually comes from the store. The other stuff is just racks of mass produced stuff specifically for the discount market. I cannot Rack on weekends, it makes me want to ram my shopping cart into someone.
Oh and I was eyeing a gray high low tee in the juniors section of Nordstrom yesterday (judge away!) and I have been scouring their website and cannot find it. I should have just bought it while I was there. pugzBrie should have made me get it.
I buy what I like and what fits me well. The hell with anyone who thinks things are out. I don't want to look like everyone else anyway. If I'm trying something more "trendy", I normally purchase from Target to try it out first.
See, my goal in life is to look like everyone else.
Well, the fashionable ones at least.
In my mind I want to look different than everyone else and seem to hate items if they become too popular.
In reality I live in tunics, infinity scarves, leggings, and top knots. I need to recognize and embrace my Kansas PTA mom status.
I just remembered I still have gladiator sandals from 2009 in my closet. I really should get rid of those as I didn't really like them then. Flip flops for lyfe.

This is great, but my fear in life is that I'll settle into something that I like and that I think fits me well...and not change for 20 years. Like the 70 year old ladies with bouffant hairdos, or the 50 year olds with feathered bangs. Mom jeans. I'm not a trendy person, but I like to look good, and I like to look good in a way that has people saying, "Ooooh, wear did you get that purse?"
I am not cool enough to just pull off something just because I like it and the rest of the world be damned.
