NYC rooms can be way smaller than regular hotel rooms, depending on the hotel. You all might be very close to each other. Just something to think about. (Yes I'd sneak my kid in.)
This.
Way smaller. There's a Doubletree in Times Square that has a sitting room/bedroom combo and an Embassy Suites near the financial district. They're about the cost of a standard NYC hotel room.
Ha, we stayed 5 to a room with MIL, & h's two brothers when she took us to NYC in college. We even shared clothes there after the airline lost their luggage and I was the only one with a carry on So, yes, I'd do it.

This is what I would do. Two queens and a sleeper sofa.

I would do it, but as others have said NYC rooms are tiny!! No way would I share with 5. We stayed on the UPper East side in August for a family wedding. Thank god we didn't share. Our room was nice but tiny! With our suitcases and dd there was barely room for dd to walk around. And that bathroom for 4 adults! No way. I d seriously buck up the extra money and get another room
