Ethical question of the day

We are going to NYC with DH's dad and his dad's wife. We want to do this as MM as possible and were thinking of sharing rooms (have no issue with this). However, hotels have a max occupancy of 4.

The 5th person would be DS. Who would share a bed with me. Would you sneak your kid in? I called and they said he is counted as a person for fire safety purposes.

I'd have no ethical issue with it - although gahhhh, i hate the idea of sharing a room with three others for shower logistics, bedtimes etc.

LOL. I don't know he is super nice. We are close enough that it doesn't seem odd or anything. He is pretty much the least offensive FIL one could ever have lol.

lol. It takes me like 2 seconds to poop! I don't know. We are going to be in the hotel room just to sleep. I don't know, when we stay at their house we only have one bathroom.

NYC rooms can be way smaller than regular hotel rooms, depending on the hotel. You all might be very close to each other. Just something to think about. (Yes I'd sneak my kid in.)

Yeah, that is fine. We aren't spending much time there (just sleeping really). I like am all enough ha. It is an adventure!

I looked for 5+ person ocucpancy and there was not one hotel in the city available. Well, scratch that originalyl the hilton had one for 1K a night lol. I wouldn't have to share a room if we could afford that!

I would go & not worry about it. I don't really think they're going to ask"how many guests will be in your room?"... will they? Just don't all 5 go to the check in counter together.

NYC hotel rooms are insanely small. Just to throw another option out there: Have you considered AirBnB? You could get a two-bedroom apartment in a good neighborhood often for less money than you'd spend on a hotel. Even a one-bedroom with a pull-out couch could give you a little more room to spread out.

Yes we have Well, VBRO but we are looking into airbnb too. We have contacted like 10 places so far and they are all booked despite saying they aren't. Or they advertise one price, only to double it when we contact them. It sucks.

ETA: Just looked on airbnb, cheapest for what we need (4-5 people) is $400, which is about the same price as we would pay for two hotels rooms (a little less but much).

Did you check in Hoboken or Jersey City?

If you're just going to be there to sleep... I would 1000000000000 times rather take the Path into NJ than sleep in the same room with my FIL, lol.

No, but it is their first time on NYC and we aren't there long so I would rather not deal with that. But really sharing a room with him doesn't even cross my.mind as annoying or whatever. He isn't a typical FIL more like an older brother ha

Yes. If it's busy and impersonal like the Sheraton we stayed at, they won't notice at all. The woman on the phone when I made the reservation lectured me that 6 month DD counted as a person and I laughed. No, she didn't. This isn't Europe.
