I did ours yesterday and am very happy with the amount we're getting back (I don't care if it's not MM, I like getting a refund! Feels like a bonus)
We're being pretty boring with ours.
-About half to savings -TTH donation -Setting some aside to pay for Easter brunch for my family -Some to slush fund
And I am trying to convince DH to get a nice set of pots and pans because ours are a mess and we cook all the time so we really could use it. We never bought a nice set (not sure why we didn't register for one for the wedding)
Our plans were super boring. We paid off two credit cards, and put 1/2 of our federal refund into savings. (Which we then promptly had to dip into when DH broke my new car less than a month after I got it!!)
We just got our state refund- we put half towards one credit card and half into the savings- DH is probably going to need a new car in the next six months or so, so we really need to focus on throwing as much in there as we can
Hooray for refunds! We are getting a pretty decent refund this year.
We are going to pay off the car loan then probably put the rest into either e-fund or c/c pay off. Hoping to be debt free by October!!!! this refund will help a lot!
Can I just live vicariously through all of you who get refunds....
Ditto. We always owe.
The MM board would yell at me, but I love getting my refund, so I always withhold waaay more in taxes than I need to
Except for the year that DH accidentally didn't have them take any taxes out of his check all year. That year we owed 1200 dollars. That sucked. I don't recommend it, lol
megkat my H did something similar before we were married. He upped his deductions I think so he got more of his bonus check and never changed it back. Basically I ended up paying his pay in with my refund (and I was only working part time at that point). I definitely don't recommend that either! Haha.
We haven't finished ours yet but when H first looked, we will probably get a small refund from federal but pay in to state. Same thing happened last year. They basically even each other out. Gotta love living in a higher tax state! At least our governor is trying to increase the daycare refund, because I think we're just above the limit to qualify for this tax year.
For the first time ever we OWE money, I am so pissed!! We usually get a really decent refund, boo. I mean, I guess that means we aren't giving the government a free loan with our money all year, but I would still prefer the refund.
We are using our refund to help pay for our roof this year.
If there is any extra left over then we will put it towards debt. (I doubt there will be, but we won't know until my sister gets the stuff back to us.)
We owe a small amount to federal but are getting a refund from the state so I think we're going to get a media console piece of furniture for our family room.
We put our entire refund into savings to go toward expenses for H's big hunting trip in September. If there's any left over after that, I get it for whatever I want. Haha.
Our federal (about $2600) went straight to down payment fund. Originally we were going to vacation with it. Now vacation planning is on hold to see what happens with the house.
State will either go towards down payment or house remodeling.
