Anyone want to share their experience? We're looking for a small SUV and like the features and comfort of the Rogue best of everything we've driven, but neither of us have ever had a Nissan and Consumer Reports and JD Power both rate it 'Average' on reliability.
I wanted to love the Honda CR-V, but I just couldn't get excited about it. We also looked at the Subaru Forester, Mazda CX-5, and Toyota Rav-4.
I bought a Nissan Rogue in November. Granted, I've only had it a few months, but I love it! It's a great car, fun to drive, very stable, and feels quite safe.
eta: I just looked at what you test drove. I drove a lot of similar cars when looking for mine. The only one I thought was competitive was the Subaru Forester and that was mainly because I know it's so safe. But, it felt kind of light when I was driving it and I didn't prefer the feeling. The Rogue feels nice and solid to me and I much prefer how it handles.

This has been talked about before, and I'm the lone Rogue hater. I sold it about 2 years in and got a Prius. My Prius v is just as large and 3x the gas mileage.
I had a 2003 infiniti g35 until last August and never had any issues with it. Now I have another infiniti which is owned by Nissan. I have loved my cars.
I would have looked at the rogue but when I was looking the 3rd row option rogue wasn't out yet and we were looking specifically for a kid-size suv with a 3rd row option.
My H has a 2007 or 2009 xterra and we have never had a problem with it. It doesn't get very good safety ratings and feels pretty utilitarian but otherwise it has been great.
I hear good things about them, which is why we bought one a few years back. A 2002 Altima. It was awful. One of the pistons actually blew at 65k miles for no reason. It was under warranty but we sold it soon after because I just couldn't deal with it.
I had a 2008 Rogue I just traded for a 2015 Pathfinder. The Rogue is great, and the redesign is really nice. I didn't have any issues with it, other than standard maintenance and one wheel bearing or fitting issue, I'm not exactly sure what it was. I bought it used in 2010 and it was good for the 4.5 years we had it. The 08 is smaller than the new ones, but we still wanted a bigger vehicle, so we got the Pathfinder
We have a Rogue. It's fine. The only things that have gone wrong were either covered by a recall or an under $50 part that DH could change out himself (he is not at all mechanically minded either). It is not an exciting car but is a solid AWD commuter car for him since he has to make it to work in any weather.
I've my 2005 NIssan Altima for the last 10 years. It has been great to me! Just needed the usual wear and tear repairs--brakes, tires, etc. No big issues yet.
I have a Mazda CX-5. I have gone through love/hate periods. I'm in a hate period right now, mainly because I really, really, really want a minivan. My old car was totaled and I had to quickly buy a new one, and instead of upgrading to what I'd need as a mom, I bought what I needed at the time. Everyone told me to just wait and see. I ended up pregnant 3 months later and we've had a hard time with the size of the CX-5. Part of the problem is that DH is a big & tall guy and we first installed the car seat base in the middle of the back seat. It was really difficult for him to get comfortable in either front seat. Once we switched the car seat base to the rear passenger side, it made it easier, but still very cramped. Also, the liftgate area is not nearly as boxy as my old car (Mazda Tribute) and it's kind of like a game of Tetris to load things in there, with a stroller.
I do like the gas mileage and the handling. It takes special oil, and the one time I took it somewhere other than the dealer, they messed that up and I had some issues. It'll be a good commuting car for DH once his car bites the dust. It's not a bad car or bad size, it just doesn't meet our needs right now. I'd really like something bigger!
At the time, I only tested a Forester and a CX-5. The Rogue was on my list, but it was also right as they were doing the redesign, so they were hard to find. Nissans, in gereral, are great cars! I remember my neighbors (when I was little) had Maximas for years and years. I think the whole neighborhood learned to drive in one of their Maximas or the other!
I have a 2007 Murano with 130 thousand-ish miles and it's still in excellent condition. I'm hoping I can get another 7 or so years out of it.
At one point, me, my H, BIL, and FIL all had Nissans. Only reason H and BIL don't is they decided to buy trucks. FIL is now on his second Nissan (a Rogue) and loves it!
Can't speak to the rogue per se but my family has all had Nissans for many years. My dad had 3 Maximas, he handed the last one down to me and we had 120k on it and it was in great condition until I was sideswiped by an 18 wheeler a month ago. But even with the accident I was able to drive home, a testament to how well made the car is.
My brother an Xterra and has had it for 10 yrs with no issues. My dad drives an infinity now which is basically the same as the maxima and it has been just as reliable.
I can't recall any issues with any of the cars having problems and we are a drive em til they die family.

I've had one since 2008, the year they came out. 120k miles on it now so of course it's now 7 years old and showing typical wear and tear, but overall I've been very happy!
We recently went through the same process, test drove most of the cars you listed and ended up buying a Forester, but it was a very close call. I liked how the Rogue handled, but ultimately we chose the forester b/c it is the best of the bunch at handling snow and icy roads. We're extremely happy with our decision, given how much snow we had the last two months.
I drove an 07 Versa from 2007 to 2012 and the only issue I had was going through drums on the rear brakes quickly. My stepfather still drives it and also has no issues, and we are both high mileage drivers.
DH bought a new Frontier in 2010 and still has and loves it. Biggest issue was a battery dying within warranty, so that cost us nothing.
Then I bought a 2010 Rogue in 2012, which I loved loved loved. No issues at all. Totaled it last year and bought a 2013 Rogue because I love it that much. I am going to find a way to fit 3 car seats across because I do not want to get rid of my car.
I will say that you 100% need a backup camera on the Rogue as the rear window is so small, but it's on most models. Just something to be sure you get.
Eta: and AWD on the Rogue has been awesome in the snow this winter. I've had no issues getting anywhere and I slipped and slid up the hill to our house in the Versa (which was the driving factor in the upgrade to rogue.)

Yeah, the backup camera is standard on all trim levels now, but we're looking at the mid-level trim with the package that includes the All Around Camera, which I'm in love with the idea of for parallel parking and backing out of spots in busy shopping center parking lots, etc.
We're down to deciding between the Rogue and the Forester. I admit, I'll be a little disappointed if DH decides he prefers the Forester, though it does have better visibility, and safety ratings which are hard for me to disregard :/
