So, basically, my update is that I simply think the company doesn't care. The owner is Jean, the woman who most of us talked to is Janet. The director of our specific center is Lyn.
From putting all the pieces together- I got my form at least 2 weeks after the our center director actually got them. She clearly felt no sense of urgency to pass them out. She did tell me that she wasn't told "get them out immediately" or anything like that. I would think she would know, but maybe this is her first year. I have no clue.
ANd really- I put this on the main office. Why wasn't the form EMAILED to us? OR why weren't we notified via email that enrollment was open and we had to have our form IN THE OFFICE by XYZ date?
A friend asked Janet if they could scan the form and email it. Nope. The original form has to be in their office. I emailed Janet asking for Jean's email. OMG- the response I got is that they aren't allowed to give out email addresses!!!!!!!!! I could email her and she'll forward it.
OMG!!!!!! Are you kidding me? It's 2015 and they are 100% relying on paper forms being handed out and mailed in.
But really- I think they just don't care. They are in high demand and they basically have a monopoly. They know if they don't get us all re-enrolled, there will be plenty of other people lining up wanting our spots. So... why make any REAL effort to communicate with us???
After school spots are sort of blood sport here. We're at the Y but I tried getting into another program last year and it as all so shady. There is no system to ensure that things are fair or even transparent because it works for them.
Woah, that is really crappy. Do you have any alternatives? a HS kid? other center?
Worst case scenario - I could probably use my parents and BEG some of my neighbors to help out. The good part of our schedule is that DH is home 2 out of every 4 weeks. So we technically don't need any care those 2 weeks. It's the other 2 weeks that I'm going to have to juggle.
I have at least one friend, though, in the same boat and I"m hoping that maybe we can hire someone to watch both our boys.
