This is the decidedly southern, good ol' boy part of my state - the part that elected Christine O'Donnell.
My favorite part: "Whatever happened to freedom of speech?" Councilman Sam Wilson said when called for comment Tuesday. "I don't know how we're gonna get around it. But we're gonna have to find a way." [Emphasis mine]
Or you could say it silently in your head or perhaps find a nondenominational prayer like reading. Or how about you just do the darn job you are elected to do without needing any special help from the almighty.

yeah.. "Sussex officials had sought to have the lawsuit dismissed, arguing the prayer was a simple call for spiritual guidance and did not favor any religion"
from above: "You could consider it a prayer for multiple religions, because Jesus is considered to be a rabbi or a great teacher by many of the world's religions. It was not originally delivered as a Christian prayer; it was simply a teacher teaching his disciples a good way to pray."
but who are the disciples of Jesus if not Christian? A rose by any other name still smells as sweet - matters not that they weren't called "Christian" way back when.

What drives me nuts is the councilman's cry of 'freedom of speech'! If he's holding an elected office he should probably know and understand the rest of the first amendment, too.

I have never understood the people who fight to keep praying in public, especially at a gov't function. Did Jesus actually have something to say about that?
