Assuming there is nothing medically wrong, I would highly suggest scheduled feedings. Put the food down for a certain amount of time (say 10-15 minutes) twice per day (breakfast and dinner). Anything he doesn't eat in that time gets picked up, and he doesn't eat again until the next meal. Leaving the food down can encourage picky eating, as can adding yummy extras (i.e. chicken, broth, etc.). or switching foods altogether. If you do strict, scheduled feedings for a week with no results, I would absolutely take him to the vet.
I don't have anything against dogs eating certain "human" foods (fruits, veggies, etc.). My dogs get carrots and green beans with dinner (helps keep them full) and get things like applesauce and cottage cheese in their Kongs. However, they never receive food from my plate, the cutting board, a cooking pot/baking dish, etc. That way, they don't associate "human" food with the stuff I'm eating.
We've had issues the past couple days because our store is having a hard time getting the food we normally feed in stock, so we've had to do some creative transitioning to a new food. Ugh.

Hope he starts to eat soon!
We're switching to a local company. Let me know if you want more info on it
I have eating issues with my dog as well. We tried a bunch of different things including a set feeding time schedule. She just wouldn't eat. What works for us is to put some of her food in her Kong. For some reason she will eat from her Kong and then will go to her bowl for the rest.
This might not be the best method but it works so I stick with it.

We tried putting garlic powder, chicken brother, or ginger powder in our dog's food when she wouldn't eat, it really helped. Just be prepared for the toxic farts. We only had to do this for two days and she went back to her regular schedule!

I'll admit I am, of late, guilty of piling on the people food. It's just so darn convenient to get her out of the kitchen by giving her a bowl to lick ... in the living room. (Usually a mise-en-place bowl that previously contained applesauce or raw meat)
However, I like the PP's suggestions about timed feedings. If he won't eat it in 15 minutes, pick it up. Then put it down again at the next feeding time. At some point, he'll get the idea, I'd think.
FI won't let the dog have human food except in very rare circumstances like scraps from carving the fat off meat, but normally unless there is a lot i let the kitten have it because i have no rules about human food for the kitten.
lately his dog has been iffy about when she wants to eat, if she doesn't eat with in a certain time, usually when the cat is being fed, she's not seeing the food again until the morning or the next feeding time. eventually she will eat. But i'm not playing games with her.
we can't leave it out for her because the cat will eat it and one time because she was still so tiny she at too big of a piece and that was a nice 570 vet bill because the kitten was choking. and we can't lock the dog in the room with her food because if we do that she won't eat it because she thinks she is being punished.
