I originally bought my fedora as part of a gangster halloween costume, and I decided that I really liked it and wore it around. Usually when I had had a few too many pre-game shots, lol.

Here is me wearing one in Central Park. You can tell I'm kind of feeling like I'm wearing a costume. And H looks like he is wondering why he is in this picture.

I got one couple years ago hoping I finally found a hat that doesn't look silly on me. Well, it looks ok, but it goes with 1% of my wardrobe, so I've worn it twice.

Thanks! I only look pretty because my extreme neck stretch is flattening out the chins. That's why I picked this picture and not the one where I looked like Danny Devito.
I have seen people wear them in "normal" activities and look good. But you have to be ultra cool. Almost no one is cool enough.
I bought one only to be worn whilst laying around in the sun, so as not to mess up my sun sensitive face. I will not wear it anywhere else. Of course, we have a girl here has worn them in the office, twice all day. WTMF.
If you wear it to a bar, do you keep it on the whole time?
when i feel like it, i wear my kickass straw fedora (purchased while on vicodin) anywhere i need sun out of my face in the summer. i look like a mobster on vacation and that's the way i LIKE IT.

Melinda, it looks awesome on you!
LHC, I hated fedoras before. I was in NYC during Memorial Day last year and omg, everyone and their mom had one! The horror! But seriously, it screamed, "I'm trying too hard!"
Flash forward to this summer where I'm really trying to keep the sun away from my face (don't want wrinkles, yo) and I think a baseball hat would look ridiculous, no? I then considered those big floppy hats, but then I was afraid that maybe I would look like I was attempting to be at the beaches in the French Riviera. Hmm okay. Next option.
So yes, a STRAW fedora is what I wear to the beach/pool. I have worn it while running errands to places like Marshall's/Target (bad hair day) and I received TONS of compliments. I'm not saying that in a bragging way either. More of a "Really?! Out of all the things I wear frequently, this gets the most love?!"

For those who do like fedoras, I have a black fedora. I got it because my husband really liked it on me. I don't dislike it, I just don't know what to wear it with or where to wear it. Would I wear it in the fall? Could I wear it in the summer even though it is black? Would I wear it with jeans and a tshirt? Denim skirt and tshirt/tank top? Do I wear boots, sandals, chucks? Do I wear it when we go out with friends? I don't dislike hats, I just never know how to wear them so I don't usually buy them.
I hate fedoras. When I see someone wearing a hat other then a baseball cap, I immediately think loud, obnoxious theatre major!
what about a beret or newsboy?
I don't know, I just hate hats for the most part. I guess if we lived in 1960, and we dressed to the 9s every day or wore three piece suits, then I could see how they would look good. But nowadays, I just think they look stupid.
I have one and I don't wear it that much. I wore it mostly on vacation when we were walking around the zoo, exploring beach towns, etc.. I got some complements on it but I would never wear it to Target, etc..
