Is it normal to have quarter to half dollar - size clots? On day 4 no less? I'm ready to wash down a few Midol PM with some sangria and call it a week.

I was very clotty the cycle before last. I had nickle sized ones. Is your flow heavy? I was told (by the nurseline) to call them back if I was going through 2 super tamps in an hour.
It wouldn't hurt to call your doctor and ask. It's nothing they haven't been asked about before.
2 super tampons in an hour? I normally go through 2 of those big purple jumbo industrial strength tampons in about an hour. My periods suck. They always have.
That's normal for me. Sometimes even slightly larger. FTR I'm 28 and never had kids and my periods have been like this since I got it at 12.
ETA: I go through Super Plus tampons like that too. BCP helped make it less like that scene in The Shining and shortened it about a day.... but it made me BSC.
I have had huge clots since I had my tubal ligation last year. Like ones that are at least the size of what you are talking about. My period is super weird since then too.
For me, that's normal. I clot like crazy, sometimes for weeks at a time. If it has never happened to you, though, giving your doctor a call wouldn't be a terrible idea.
That happened to me once. It freaked me out, I called my OBGYN, and he said to lay down with my feet up. If I got dizzy (from loss of blod), then it was time to go to the ER. I never had to go.
I get pretty big clots like that too. And on my heaviest days, I'll go through a super plus tampon in a half hour.
My OB swears that taking two Aleve at the start of your period and every eight hours for three total doses helps reduce the amount of flow and cramps. My periods are so severe that I've failed to notice a difference.
