I am a total makeup newbie. I read everything the Twirlies posted and saved a bunch of things, but putting it all together was so tough for me! I still have the brush tutorial saved because I own one brush. One. And it's like 6 years old. (yuck)
So, I just got my first BirchBox in the mail and LOVE the Dr Jart BB cream. It worked really well with my skin, so I put in an order for that.
Besides that, I own mascara (from ELF, gulp) and some eye shadows from college that I bought 6 years ago (gulp again).
PLEASE help me and give me some ideas for what I should buy. I prefer a more natural look since I rarely dress up (even for work) and simplicity would be awesome since I have less time with a 4mo old.
Here's my mug, sans makeup, to give you an idea of my issues.
Thanks swizzle. I have my moments of good and bad skin... this was a better day, I guess And thanks for your recs!! Will definitely look into them!
Cosmos- I am sure I know who you are, but I don't know who you are anymore Any hints for me?? But thanks! DD is almost 4 months old. Can't believe how quickly time flies...
What do you feel like are your trouble spots. Like Swizzle said, I think your skin looks really nice, but I know for me, I also get that compliment a lot...it doesn't change the fact that I still want to concel the blemishes and dark circles that I notice. ~My favorite under eye concealer is Maybelline Instant Age Rewind. It is awesome! I have always had darker under eye circles, and I have tried tons of concealers but this one is so fast and works great. Love it! ~For other little blemishes that might pop up here and there, I use Amazing Cosmetics concealer, I bought 2 tubes over a year ago (it was BOGO free) and I am still working on my second tube because the coverage is excellent. I just need a little dab and it works magic.
Since you are looking to keep it really simple, I think you could get some eyeliner (I like Urban Decay's Glide On Pencils) and just smudge it a little with your finger then swipe on some mascara and your good...I don't even think you really need blush because you have some good coloring in your cheeks and your eyebrows look fantastic naturally.

I'd say my under-eye circles are a PITA because no matter how much sleep I get they are there. And definitely spot blemishes. My biggest annoyance is uneven tone. I have a lot of redder spots that need to be evened out, but thankfully that Dr Jart cream I just bought seemed to handle that.
You all make good points about eye liner and mascara. I think that's where I need to start, because I actually like my eyes to pop
I think if you are looking for a quick eye look that even a paint pot in a pretty color and some mascara could work. It would be fast but still give your eyes pop.
You all are too sweet. I look at my skin and see issue after issue... But these are great suggestions to get me off and rolling. I may try a makeup counter. Can't hurt!
