I resent that comment. All my vitamins and herbs work. Scary thing is I take chinese herbs for my allergies and even though I don't have a clue what's in it cause it's in chinese - I will never give that sh!t up.

In some ways I agree with the sentiment, however I am on one supplement that has dramatically improved my health - so, one out of 30 or so I have tried...not great odds.
I think herbs like fenugreek, blessed thistle, and goats rue have really helped my supply in terms of breastfeeding. And they come highly recommended by MDs, lactation consultants, and nursing moms pretty much everywhere. Using the herbs allowed me to stop supplementing with formula and avoid taking prescription meds that have documented terrible side effects (i.e depression).

Yay, anecdotes substituted for data! You people can't know if they work for you b/c you're not comparing against placebo.
That said, yes there are herbs that do have active effect. Most don't. Vitamins are more and more being shown to be just expensive pee if you're not deficient.
And then we have the doc who told H yesterday that he might want to try a supplement of vit E and K since they're water soluble, and the worst that would happen is he'd pee them out. Um, no, they're not. Those are the fat soluble vitamins.
