Makeup Storage

Thanks to the MUT it's time for me to upgrade my makeup storage situation. I'm thinking the Alex from IKEA. Thoughts? Do you have one for makeup? How do you organize it? Bonus if you have pictures of your set up.

our bathroom cabinets are regular IKEA kitchen cabinets, so I have a drawer for my lipsticks. I have a cutlery tray (is that what they're called? the thing you put in to divide for silverware) in the drawer, and it's kind of perfect.

The rest of my makeups are in an Ikea pull out pantry that's right next to the cabnets. I have a shelf that's like 2' x 2' with another, bigger, cutlery tray dividing everything up.

I have one of these in there that I use to hold my pencils (eyeliner, brow, etc) and it's fantastic and I wish I had more of them.




my brushes are in glass jars with coffee beans on the counter. I find that I love to smell just a touch of coffee when I rustle a brush out of there. Helps me wake up in the morning, and looks cute.

I have an Ikea Alex for make up. A short and fat one. I love it!! It's perfect for my needs.(The need for all the make up) I use the Alex for Make Up and the white and red Helmer's for nail polish.



And I use these little white IKEA candle holders for make up brushes and eyeliners. And the other top storage things are from ikea too. The clear pull out drawer is for overflow of lipsticks. The top one is sort of the please put back into the drawer stuff.


These inside pictures are kind of old. But the trays are from Ikea too. The white ones work for all the drawers. And the clear ones only work for the the bottom three drawers because they are deeper. Clear liners also fit into the Helmer's if someone had a smaller make up collection.

Sterile plastic stackable drawers. I think I'm getting a make up table for my bday so we'll see what I do then.

I have this currently but hate it. I forget to use sooooo much of my makeup. 

ETA: It stays under my sink as well so I rarely reach for things in there.

I use the Muji acrylic drawers and I have my brushes in clear acrylic cups from container store and my palettes in the same white ikea box that maumau had in her pictures above

I have an Ikea Tarva 5-drawer chest.



Top drawer: samples
Second drawer: hair stuff
Third drawer: face makeup (primer, foundation, BB cream), bronzers, blushes
Fourth drawer: Eye makeup (shadow palettes, eye liners, mascaras), lip sticks and glosses
Fifth drawer: Nail polish

I use a crafts storage thing from Michaels for most of it and then keep my brushes in a coffee mug beside it, LOL.

Right now I'm using a desk organizer, a basket, and a big glass fishbowl.

I have my grandmother's vanity and have used some of my vast birchbox box collection to sort. It's a very high tech system. I just like getting ready at my vanity in the bedroom each morning over the bathroom.

For awhile I used the Alex as my nightstand when I had no space for it. It's the perfect height.

I have a big train case that I keep under the sink. I have no counter space so this is the best option for me.

a) I don't have quite as much as y'all (yet), and b) our master/bath/house is tiny, so there's not really space for cabinets of stuff. 

I did upgrade from a 4"x4" tub to this from the Container Store, except w/o the lipstick thingy. I stuck it in a drawer and my pallets live up on their sides around it.

I have Muji organizers...one 5 drawer set and one 2 drawer set. The 5 drawer set holds a good bit of make-up, but I got the larger 2 drawer set for foundations and taller palettes.
