I'm calling 14.5 with some kind of box jump twist. Perhaps making it a triplet instead of a couplet? If not exactly 14.5, something horrific and long and that steals a part of all our souls.

Part of me says repeating two workouts from last year is lame. The other part says that we MUST be getting thrusters and burpees, and Dave has seemed particularly sadistic this year, so I wouldn't put a 14.5 repeat past him. Or 14.5 but with burpee box jumps instead of bar-facing burpees. I was hoping for another chipper this year...rowing, thrusters, burpees, box jumps and
I certainly agree with "something horrific and long and that steals a part of all our souls", wambam.
I'm sticking with burpees, box jumps, and thrusters, It will be some combination of HELL!! My ranking will drop drastically with burpees and box jumps. I would be happy with 1RM deadlift. It's the only one I feel I excel at.

I don't want long. I'm grumpy and miserable and hurting. My knees are so achey. I just want this to be over. What do you think the scaled will be if it is burpees box jump overs and thrusters...

If it's burpee box jump overs it will probably step overs and burpees. Thrusters will probably be 45lbs or 55lbs.

I bet scaled would also be the lighter thruster, but just the burpee box jump instead of the jump over. Jump overs were in the judges course this year, so that's what makes me think we'll see them, but Castro could just be throwing us all off his trail.
In the past, step ups have been allowed as RX'd box jumps. I usually chose that route because I can do step-ups faster than I can box jumps.
Ditto ditto. It's the only way I survived the DL/Box Jump WOD last year. I loved that WOD because I could keep doing step ups without sending my heartrate through the roof!

Yes! I also made up a lot of ground in a competition in Jan by doing step ups in my chipper instead of box jumps. I will be bummed but not surprised if Rx now requires jumps, and only scaled allows for step ups.
Is it wrong to carb load for a workout that I don't know for sure is even going to be long? LOL, because I'm totes making homemade chicken fried rice tonight.
Should I rx this one or do scaled like the other four workouts? Not that there is a big prize for the scaled division or anything, but after 4 workouts I'm sitting at 130 something in my region. The other 4 workouts have all had a component I couldn't do at all or not proficiently, but this one I could do rx. So, should I do it rx for pride or scaled to see if I can raise my placing?

I like rowing but this will be all oxygen management for me, like usual. Prob doing 3 sets on the thrusters for 27 and 21. Will aim for 2 on 15 and might make a desperate attempt to do the 9 unbroken. But I will be resting a lot between the row and the bar I bet.
I'm kinda relieved in that I really thought it would be worse.

Pretty much ditto every word of this, especially the bolded, although being realistic I will probably have to break up the thrusters more. I can row decently and have been known to start no-repping my thrusters even when I'm not that fatigued, so I might go for it on the rower and then do mini sets of thrusters to keep moving.
Cowbells personally I would probably Rx for pride. If you were going to be top 20 or something, I'd lean toward doing it scaled.

Not sure how this will go - I've gotten a lot better at rowing this winter. I'm decent at thrusters. BUT right now I'm not able to squat - like at all -
